Planning on putting jp4s in the saxo at some point just wondering what I need to put it in a vtr I know I will need a vts ecu/loom and the sump needs to be swapped over. Take it the engine mounts will just bolt on? Can the aluminium c2 inlet be used or do I need to use a saxo inlet?

Manifold needs swapping over too I believe, there's a guide with pics in the engine/performance section.

Can the c2 inlet be used? have heard of people using them on boosted saxos as they are stronger but what about standard? The reason I would rather use the c2 inlet is simply because its difficult to get hold of a good vts inlet that's not got bits snapped off or broken..

If you can get the Saxo throttle body to fit onto the C2 manifold you maybe able to use it, the main reason people use the Saxo manifold is due the the C2 being fly by wire not cable. Depending on how new the JP4 is & what kind of manifold you intend to use you will also have to move the oil filter.

Just a thought if you use the C2 inlet manifold then you will also have to use the C2 injectors as they are different to Saxo ones, I know as I lent a set to a Saxo owner & they didn't, which could mean you may have fuelling issues if you go with a standard ECU

Hmm that is a problem.. could probably make up some kind of bracket to fit the throttle body but I didn't realise the injectors are a different size.

They were from a C2 VTR which is a 16V not sure about a VTS as that has an alloy manifold which had already been taken off of my engine

Parts off a j4 you need
Sump
Exhaust manifold
Inlet mani with tb ect head also needs to be drilled an tapped to except the j4 inlet
Engine wiring loom
Gear box
Fly wheel/ clutch assy
All sensors
Metal oil filter
Hole tapped and a bolt put in it for the old paper filter
Cams
J4 cam belt kit
Timing cover
Maybe one Ive missed out but I know this from doing one

Howcome you need to change the cambelt for a J4? clearance in the bay or something?

Hole tapped and a bolt put in it for the old paper filter (If it's a later engine, you'll need a sandwich plate for oil pressure switch)
Cams (Not if it's a VTS engine)
J4 cam belt kit (It's the tensioner that needs changing)

Will the sump off a vtr engine fit? better start making a list of the bits I need

It should do the difference between a Saxo VTR & VTS is the head, as far as I know the short block is the same.

Jp4 cams are different vtr or vts regardless!

Why do you think the c2 vts boys put j4 cams in? Because there hotter

Duration & lift difference is very minimal from Saxo VTS to C2 VTS but from Saxo VTS to C2 VTR there are differences, as most JP4 conversions use C2 VTR engines as C2 VTS's are quite a rare beast

Never knew cams were different I was told it was map and inlet as that's the only visual difference I could see

The green valve springs on the C2 VTS are also stronger if you're using a C2 VTR then you should swap to the Saxo VTS cams & springs

Will definitely be going for a c2 vts engine as obviously its got more bhp but also I would rather not mess around swapping cams over plus that would be more parts for me to buy as I currently have a vtr engine so no cams to swap.

Thanks for the offer of parts will keep that in mind :y:

VTS engine looms seem to be quite difficult to get hold of.

I might know to a single and 3 plug loom

Pistons are different between VTR and VTS C2. Smae compression but the VTS has valve clearance that the VTR doesn't need.

There's a bung in the front of the block to put an oil pressure switch in, so you don't need to adapt anything there.

There's just a hole you need to blank off in the front of the block, about 7mm diameter behind the JP4 oil filter extension, it's there to allow oil from the filter housing to drain into the sump when you change the oil and filter.

Not if it's a late model engine the taping isn't there, I think it's after 2006
