My wife's 988 cc, 1999 Saxo has had one driver from new, has a FSH, done only 53.000 miles, looks good, MOT to August. My daughter offered to sell it for her but she is talking of asking only £500. I think it's worth a lot more. Comments please.

Generally cheap cars that age are considered scrap value or with long MOT a few hundred with not. As it's low ish mile and if it looks sound £500 you may get if your lucky. Can't see you getting much more unless you get lucky.

I wouldn't have said it's worth any more than that. It's the least desirable engine (you'd only buy it for insurance reasons) and you could get something so much more substantial for £500.
£200-300ish I'd say.

It depends how you sell it. A lot of people drive down the cost of cars by offering low amounts of money. Eventually the seller gets sick of the low offers and end up accepting it. You see this a lot on facebook groups. People offering silly low prices for cars when the same car is selling for two or three times more on eBay or AutoTrader.
Unfortunately, Saxos aren't worth anything any more. £500 is probably reasonable for a well looked after car. As Jizanthapus pointed out, you've got a desirable engine for young drivers. Just play to strengths, one owner, well cared for, cheap insurance/tax/fuel etc. Stick it up for £600 and chance it. You might get lucky.
