Evening guys hope all is well

I'm currently looking for a standalone ecu to get my boosted Saxo started for the first time in 3 years and an ecu is all one needs to do so. I've got my eye on the vems plug and play with all the extras on it too which is not very cheap.

So anyhow I was going to order one last night but doesn't come up with United Kingdom for the postage ? Also anyone have a rough ideas on how long it will take to arrive ?

Thanks

Speak to Protuner, they map alot of them and can probably supply a Vems.

Why Vems anyway? There is similar spec ECU's for quite cheaper which are known by a lot more tuners in the UK

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll try them, do they have a website ?

And I couldn't answer that question but I'm a lazy sod and can't be bothered wiring up a dta/ emerald or omex ect . Plus have heard some bad comments about the predator

Just want it running and to have no wiring problems and a relatively good management

You should really select a local tuner and see what solution they recommend as opposed to buying an ECU then looking for someone to map it - I doubt many tuners over here will have experience with Vems but I may be wrong.

Omex and DTA are popular choices. As for somewhere local-ish; off the top of my head, TDI North in Warrington could handle the OMEX, GR Performance in Rotherham for DTA. Evotune in Durham may be able to do one or both - maybe someone else can confirm.

Evotune will do Omex, speak to Jamie and see what ECU he recommends. Dont buy an ECU then start looking for a mapper to suit, start with the mapper and their recommendation.

I had a nightmare when I had a Predator as my 2 main choices for mapping wouldnt touch hence why I went for Omex. Omex sell the loom you need for just over 100 quid IIRC.

Protuner dont have a site but they do have a facebook page, they are well known in the GTR/ drift world

Agree completely, very good bit of advice. See what you can get mapped relatively easily local to your self and start from there. Omex is extremity popular in the UK so normally you will have multiple local who will work on them. DTA are another very common one.

I have a very good tuner local who is happy to do just about anything with the stock ECU these days. In a way it makes it simple but if you ever require a remap later the option are limited.

There are more and more people who deal with mega squirt derived units but if you do go that way and are looking to pay to get the car mapped i would also look at a more reputable manufacturer like the Predictor units as glitchy cheap unit are common off ebay.

Predator are NLA.

dont have to use a local mapper, mant people have done long trips to cornwall ;)

I'm not to fussed about traveling to get the car mapped, as living in Cumbria there is hardly any decent places anyhow.

May just keep an eye out for a loom and ecu and put it on hold for a while .

Welshy, it seems neither links in your sig work to well.

One is dead completely and the other you have to be registered in the trade :(

Why not keep the stock ECU and have that mapped to suit your car?
You'll need a different MAP sensor and injectors suitably sized for your required power level of course, but you'll need those whatever ECU you use.

By keeping the stock ECU you also have knock protection, which none of the less expensive aftermarket ECUs have. You are looking at £1000+ for a Life Racing/Syvecs unit, Motec etc to get the same level of protection that the stock ECU gives, and that is free!

If you're concerned about theft, the stock ECU also has the immobilser option, which absolutely none of the aftermarket ones do unless it's specially configured so at great expense.

Diagnostics is standard, so easy.

The loom is standard, so free and easy to follow published diagrams if you have an issue in the future and also very easily replaced if you have a problem or it gets damaged.

Without doubt the best and also the cheapest ECU solution.

Evening, thanks for the reply .in all honesty I've never even thought that it would be possible to run boost through the standard ecu. Is this something you do by any chance ?
