Good morning,
After being a previous owner of a VTS from new back in 2000, I'm looking at buying another for my daily driver as I have very fond memories of the driving experience and really do still like the styling.
I've done some research into common problems and found that rust/rot and rear beams seam to be the biggest issue. Is there anything else to look for and do you know of any for sale other than Ebay, Gumtree etc?

Thank you. Lets hope I don't buy a dog.
What do you think of this?

Seems a bit pricey but I'm not sure what they go for these days.
The main thing to look for is a solid shell. Rot is the biggest killer of these but everything else you can pick up relatively cheap. Check the boot floor, right into the corners (pull up the carpet if you need to), check the front suspension struts and inner wings including under the ECU. Check all along the sills too. Just have a really good poke around everywhere if you can.
It's worth checking the rear axle too, if it creaks/squeaks when you bounce the rear up and down, or the wheels have negative camber it'll probably need doing which is going to be a £200-300 job at most.
To be honest I'd go for something more standard as that's far from original, but if it's solid and you can get the price down it might be worth a punt. Depends what you want it for.

Thanks for the feedback.
Did plan on looking this weekend but may cancel as I'm a little dubious as he's not very forthcoming with additional info or pictures. I also looked at the advisories on the last MOT and it mentions corrosion a fair few times!

Sounds like it'll need welding at somepoint soon, possibly for the next MOT!
If you can weld or know someone who can do it cheap then great, but if you don't you'll be spending a fortune. And once you start taking it apart and cutting away the rust I guarantee you'll find more than you thought.
I'd keep looking personally. Get something which hasn't been messed with which is more solid.
