I have a couple of nasty stone chips that have gone a bit rusty. I have some touch up paint but don't really want to just blob it into the rust hole as I guess it'll just come back out in no time. Any suggestions for a solution? Want to stop the rust more than anything. Know it'll never look bang on. I'll put some pics up when I get chance later on.

you need to go back to bare metal, prime it, paint it, lacquer it.
Bilt hamber stuff is good for eating away the rust.

Can you get a decent finish with rattle cans?

you can get little abrasive stick things (fuck knows what they are called) that usually come with touch up paint kits you basically just get into the stone chip and gently scrape free the rust then touch it up in stages with the primer paint and lacquer stages. don't rattle can your paint it never comes out well and rattle can paint is soft and will flake unlike professional 2pack paints.
Also where are your stone chips? I would say maybe if they are on just one panel and they really are that bad it might be worth just trying to source a replacement panel in the same colour obviously in better condition then bolt it on and have done if its a bonnet for instance

I'm thinking about getting a chipex kit. They seem to have good results from what I've read. I've seen those abrasive pens as well. I'll probably get both. I've been looking for a replacement bonnet on and off for a few months cos my last one had the paint ruined after an engine fire. I bought the best one I found and it has a couple of rusty stone chips ha
