The fasteners on the bracket straps that hold the power steering pump in place had come loose and the pump was just flopping around. What is the correct way for the bracket to go round the pump? Should the metal straps (shown with arrows) go over the top of the rubbers (marked with X) or should it be as it is in the photo? Somehow it does not look right how it is in the photo. Does anyone have a picture?

That's looks the correct fitment to me,if it's not you won't be able to tighten the bolts as they won't line up,the only thing is that these 2 metal straps should go over the 2 rubbers fitted to the pump.

The rubbers should be underneath the bracket to stop the bracket rubbing on the pump :)

The problem is if the metal straps go over the rubbers the bolts don't seem long enough. I could use a clamp to squeeze the bracket together so that I can bolt it, but the pressure would just deform the rubber.

Waaaaiiiitttt a second...... Those look like jubilee clips holding the rubber on to the pump? If they are just loosen them and move the rubber to line up with the clamp so you can get a bit more thread.... If they're not then just get some longer bolts the same size :y:

By the looks of it looking at the photo the clamp should only be partially over the rubber aswell judging by the shape of the rising bits in the clamp?

They are supposed to go like that, the 2 metal securing straps clips at the bottom and then they are bolted down at the top.

The rubber on the pump is fixed in place, you can't really move it unless you want it breaking apart.

Does anyone have a picture of their pump? With the radiator in place and the pump connected it's so tight to get everything lined up.
