This has been covered a million times I know the issue and have bodged it up but my questions I can't seem to find answers to

Basically I was on track at Lydden and lost all gears, gearstick went floppy and only had 3rd. Limped it back to the paddock and found that the roll pin has come out the selector arm. Popped a M6 nut and bolt through it and now it drives fine just a bitch to get into 1st and has a lot of wobble even when In gear. As the pin fell out I imagine there is a lot of wear on the arm, I've read about getting a new pin but this will probably have the same issue and fall out again, I've also read that you can drill the arm to 8mm and put an M8 through it, can this be done on the car, what is the bit that elongates is it the arm itself or will it be also the shaft that is attached to the box? Would I be able to buy a new arm and split pin and it would resolve the issue or is it best to drill 8mm hole through the selector arm and the part attached to the box? Thank you... Kept missing gears on track because of this

try a new roll pin, you'd be daft not to considering they are quite literally 40/50 pence from the dealer however you can use a bolt or drill it out to take a larger bolt again but in the car thats going to be really fiddly to drill because of the access to the back of the box - personally I'd not bother drilling it as its more effort than its worth imo, just find something to fit the hole well.
I found with a bolt in it made my gear shift feel horrible so I just put a new roll pin back in, also if the bolt is too small it'll give it a tonne of play as that movement is amplified through the gear stick.
if the hole in the selector on the box itself is goosed you'll need to strip the box to rebuild iirc.
You could also use the washer under the selector arm "mod" to reduce in and out play of the arm itself but I've also removed this on mine as I didnt like the feel of the shift.

Hi, okay cool I will get a new roll pin and see what happens do you know the size of the roll pin as may try and get my hands on slightly larger ones to fill the gap a bit more snuggly, I saw about the washer mod so I just went to our local motor factors and grabbed a m12 repair washer. What exactly does it do? As I haven't got a step drill is it possible to buy a washer that fits over the selector rod? Like m16 maybe?

And the ball is fine. However ordering satchshift soon so won't bother replacing the ball. Just was fine before the pin came off! Now it's all over the place with the bolt through it. Being m6 I don't think it's snug enough. The original pin as somewhere at lydden hill!

The pin I bought I held up to a m7 bolt and it's the tiniest bit smaller. Car currently has an m6 bolt through it holding the selector. But if I can find the right size and go a tiny bit bigger it should be nice and tight as that's obviously the reason it fell out and I'm pretty certain it will fall out again with the one from Citroen as it will be the same size

Also Gandhi I see on another post people mentioning about using a Mk1 driveshaft nut? But didn't say what for exactly shed any light?

Can also be the bigger nylon ball bush after link rod and before linkages, have had mine split and fall off on a previous mk2

I know what the issue is on mine; it was the roll pin but I've put sam m6 bolt through it and it's not tight enough thus creating play. The ball linkages etc will be redundant soon as satchshift is going on. I just want to know what size the roll pin is on the selector arm so I can go slightly bigger to make it a tight fit again

I think that may have been me...if you cut the top off a mk1 driveshaft nut ie: the round part not the castellated bit, it a snug under the selector arm. Pretty sure thats one of my bodges lol
