So am considering once again a turbo kit. However thing concerns and impacts it has is the insurance side of things. Does anyone here know what price of insurance was before turbo and after being installed?

Deciding to turbo again but thinking insurance might knock me out the view of this been done.

Insurance is such a strange game, it's pointless someone telling you what it cost them as it'll have almost no relevance to you whatsoever.

Ring a few insurance companies and ask, specialist ones will give the best quotes for major changes like that. I found flux a few years ago seemed to get cheaper the more you modified a car!

As said insurance is a strange game, I would go as far as to say it's legalised theft, I have 3 cars why does each one have to be insured, I can only drive one at a time. Anyway that is not your question, but again as the advice has been given nobody else can give you the answer apart from insurance companies. Work out what you think you are going to do to the car, then ring them, they seem to take all sorts of things into consideration. Then if you have time pay them off against each other, tell one the other will do it £50 cheaper always worth a punt.

Daft things that you might not initially think about like keeping a catalyst fitted shows that you are more 'responsible' and insurers like responsible people.

Making a properly engineered job of the car (so less fire risk etc) and having an proper engineer's report done on the car makes a world of difference. People in suits like accountability and boxes ticked.

Going for a completely sensible and realistic amount of reliable power also helps, not only with insurance but also with your own long-term enjoyment of your car. Any idiot can make a 'firework'- spectacular for a short period then 'bang' - game over - insert coin....

i would recommend flux, Don't be scared to tell them everything either, you would be surprised what they come up with. Mine was hardly any different with a turbo conversion and a lot of other mods. Insurance prices change every day of the week though, it costs me more to insure my 1.0 fiesta than it does a turbo saxo.:wall:

Thanks for the info Dan. Just going on to website now to see what quote would be with mods I am looking to carry out. On website online quote is this best option to do or to do over the phone?

Just got a quote back with a bunch of mods

Air filter induction kit
Turbo
Exhaust system
suspension and shocker upgrade
few other mods

we can offer a provisional rate of £650.

What does this mean? does that mean they can offer at that based on information provided until gone over the modifications in more detail?

Still with all the mods on that is £200 under my current insurance without mods. So maybe get insurance with them without the mods and when mods day comes to change policy.

I work odd hours so I am on phone now so going to see what can offer me in total :)

Edited.

Well looks like the quote did not include the increase in BHP and that bis took the price to £2100+ Think ill be scrapping the idea of turbo for now n kit. Maybe look at other methods of a good gain in BPH without turbo.

Ouch. My 400hp 106 turbo was only £310 to insure with flux. You must still be in nappies - or live in Solihull :D

Bloody hell i'd turbo mine if I could get the insurance that cheap, I'm happy with my 280 insurance on the vtr at the moment, turbo quotes for me come in around 2k aswell :/

All goes off area and what BPH is brought to the table. Am re quoting with turbo but with less of a power gain and other mods see where it takes me.
