my thermostat broke... (again)

have replaced it, and the aluminium thermostat housing for a new one.. (it cracked.. dont ask... :panic:)

and on refilling with coolant.. the rad fan wont kick in..

the temperature gauge rises to almost full.. (takes ages to warm up past halfway..)

its properly bled. the new stat works.

the fan works as i've put power directly to it..

disconnecting the sensor in the top of the thermostat housing brings the red light on the temp gauge...

but no fan..

anyone any ideas?

its a 54 plate mark 2..

swapped the relays out the fusebox and the fan housing of my missus's saxo (04 plate mark 2)...

the fan comes on when the top sensor is disconnected in my missus's car with my relays in it..

my fan doesn't work with her relays still... which i guess rules them out..

another odd thing ive noticed is my EML light has gone off.. (its normally on because of the old Lambda sensor issue)

gunna stick my mates ELM327 usb code reader on it now and see if that brings anything up..

if not... im ruddy baffled.

finally sorted it!

cleaned the earth on the gearbox... and the earth on the wing that the fan connects to and its all now working as it should..

did them at the same time so not sure which cured it..

Im guessing it was the wing as thats what the fan connects to.. but they where both a bit dirty..
