View Full Version : Route to fuel tank

When I was slicing around under the dash the other day trying to get a cable into the engine bay I nicked a fuel line. I've now pull the line completely out & I'm replacing both, I've rigged the cut one up temporarily so I can start the car but have a question about the route. Ideally I don't want to have to drop the tank if I can help it, we're trying to sell the house & a half dismantled car is not a good advert.

Is it possible to use a hole saw in the red area & feed the pipes up to the pump?

It's not the drilling of the hole, it's whether it's possible to feed the pipes through,

3 phase, pah! there's only 4 wires what possibly can go wrong :D

i'd personally just drop the tank there's only like 2 or 3 bolts holding it on anyway and even if you use the hole saw there may be something obstructing the pipe so you cant get it to the pump

Just have a look under the metal with a camera from the fuel pump access and see if there's anything in the way? If I remember rightly it's just a void inbetween those plates of French metal ;)

nothing a wee bit of electrical tape wont solve :D

on one job a bloke in a digger soon found out what happens when you ignore warning "live cable below" tape, a new bucket for his digger, was pissin with rain so the hole was filling up n heaps of smoke coming from it.

if in doubt get someone else to do it so you can pass the buck if it goes wrong
