yeah pinned so it will leave holes which will need grommets or smoothing over

i just used a boiled kettle of water and a knife to debadge mine, no pins holding mine though just glue.

i only took the one of today and it worked straight away with the hair dryer and old card, but yea when i opened the boot i realised the "citroen" and "saxo" are both pinned in, would like to remove them and smooth it over, would this be a job for the body shop or can it be done by myself at home? and whats the best way to do it?, im a previous VW owner and once took pinned badges of that, smoothed over, sprayed etc but only used an aresol can the same colour as the car but it allways seemed to stand out still the colour

you could probably pick up a debadged boot from a scrappy for quite cheap, getting the same colour would probably be an arse ache though

Firstly, welcome to the forum. Secondly, it wouldn’t be too hard to do yourself providing you have the patience. Watch a few guides on YouTube first to get an idea.

cheers bear, i believe the colour is posi blue, its a saxo 1.1 W reg, i was wanting something a little better like a VTR but unfortunately insurance will have my pants down affter allready quoting me the best part of 3k on the 1.1, :/, on the other hand i do like modifying cars, and im all for cars looking nice, not over fussed on performance atm which is why i have been thinking about the VTR body kit, arches, bumpers etc, if i was to buy these would they fit straight onto the 1.1 saxo or would there need to be ajustments? and also is it easy enough to do, i have plenty of patience when it comes to my cars. Thanks for the welcome stissy, ill take a look on youtube later tonight and see what i can come accross :)

Fitting a VT kit is relatively simple. The front and rear bumpers are direct replacements, just remember that the rear bumper on the VT kit has a cut-out for the exhaust and since the 1.1 exhaust points downwards it’ll look a little odd until you get a backbox. The front arches require a little work, the VT wings have holes for trim clips whereas the 1.1s don’t so you will need to bond the arches (Tiger Seal is your best option). The rears arches also require a little effort as the 1.1 arches are flat and this can be seen under the VT kit when it’s fitted. Most people just take an angle grinder to the rear arches to remove a few inches before fitting the VT kit – it doesn’t need to be neat as you’re going to cover the bodywork with the VT arches anyway and then bond on the rear arches. The side skirts can also be bonded.

id do all the easy bits, then give it to a bodyshop to be liable for the annoying bits.

A bodyshop would probably charge you more than the car is worth. All you need is angle grinder, some time and a bit of tiger seal.

depends how long you plan on keeping it i suppose, i used to hit quite alot of animals where i used to stay so my car was regularly in for repairs, badgers, deer, hares, and nearly a herd of cows.

the problem im having at the min is im 22 year old and the only insurance company offering me an affordable quote is co-op eco insurance, the thats at nearly 3k a year fully comp, only problem with them is they dont do mods at all, im assuming putting the vt kit on it is still classed as a mod even though there citroen parts right?, anyone know any insurance companys i could try? if i dont have any look then i think ill just spend a year working on any rust i come accross and replacing things with new standard stuff to get the car in good shape ready for mods maybe a year later, tbf its quite a clean car from what ive gathered so far, just been cleaning up the engine bay today, all under the ecu is great too which i hear is a common problem usually for rust/rot.

The vt kit is a mod yes because your saxo didn't leave the factory with the kit on.As for insurers try Adrian flux,Admiral or brentacre.

my licence was revoked and at 17 but only just got round to re sitting my test, that wont effect insurance though as i aint had to mension it as it was over 5 years ago, got a clean licence now, so new driver at 22, car parked on a drive, for some reason still getting high quotes, that one of co-op is superb compared to the others lol, the others were wanting 5-6k, oh apart from "GO GIRL" insurance company they wanted 4k lol, dare say i wouldnt go with them though, would look like a right idiot if pulled by a copper and asked who im with hahaha

oh and thats a thing i was ment to ask, on the co-op insurance it says online they need a 500 pound deposit then 10x monthly installments, how long will the deposit cover me for so i can drive untill the first installments due anyone know?

its because so many saxos/106s have been written off by men of your age group, i still get dumb quotes for insurance and im 26.

i watched a guy with a 2l engine in his 106 go round the beach roundabout, nailed the accelerator right into a lampost.

wasnt even racing either.

i had a call back of adrianflux today as a few of my pals said there good, they quoted me over 8k, i laughed and got of the phone sharpish lol, co-op are great, well compared to other quotes, was with them at 17, only chew is i cant modify, i aint even bothered about performance at this stage, i just appreciate a car the looks well, dont think i dare do a few little mods though incase i get caught, allready had 1 revoked licence, its not worth it, think ill just wait a year or 2, just do general work for now, working on any rust etc

Could you not look at other cars? The Saxo can be expensive to insure because of its reputation. What about a Fiesta or something?

overall id say its a decent car for first car, parts are pretty cheap, could rarely get tyres for less than a grand all round for my 645 lol, could pretty much refurb my 106 gti ive got for that price.

i find the 106 far more enjoyable to drive knowing that if i do happen to do myself a mischief it wont cost a pot of gold to fix
