So every couple of days if I put my foot down in 2ng gear, it hesitates slightly followed by 2 clicks and a big puff of smoke from the rear? I'm unsure of the smoke colour it's hard to tell. I've got a 2.2 petrol vectra. It drives fine after this happens it's pretty random. Any ideas of the cause? Could it be a timing chain issue? Maybe it's due a timing chain replacement since it's nearly on the 200k mark ?

If you had a timing chain issue, your car would be in a scrapyard with a dead engine.

it hesitates slightly

Service the car, spark plugs and air filter. clean throttle bodies. Get the oil vacuum checked.

.

Not necessarily, vauxhalls love to rattle their tits off for a good while when the chains fucked. Then it wears the guides even more and the timing skips on out you.

Get any fault codes read or do the pedal test
