So I got round to having a look at why my brakes pulled and where utter shiet.

Here's a little bit of what I did.

Usual wheels off. - I was standing on the spanner to undo the bolts for this, what the hell where they screwed on with, the Hulk 😆
19mm for reference

Full locking the wheel out and some GT85 worked wonders here. Was surprised how good the wheel arch and everything was !
19mm spanner for reference again.

Not looking bad from a quick glance, but look closer

Wtf are my pads!! This is the drivers side m, the passenger side was thicker but both still shiet. The uneven pad wear kinda explained the brakes pulling.

Luckily I got the right new brake pads first time!!!!
Had five choices of pad for a Saxo to scholar from! I suggest anyone going to get some pads get a look at theirs if not sure firstly. As don't expect EuroCarwhat or Halfrauds or Fleabay to have a clue for you 😂😂

The sliding brake sheet is a bigger to remove so just tap t with a hammer lightly.

Cleaned all dirt and grime off the calipers inside and out. cleaned the rings of Pistons and made sure there lived and slide easily.

I'd realised if put the little clips I the top instead of the bottom, annoying so had to take these out and put back in the bottom of each pad 😡

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160726/713df33dce4bf793f070294ffc927792.jpg

Now, even though I had five pad choices and I did have the right pad fitment. Not one came without the sensor wire. As mine didn't have any on the originals. So I just yanked em out.

Makes me wonder why I bother with gloves. Always cut up the ends of stuff and this Happens 😥😥

Then wheel on and torqued properly and test drive.

Now no longer pull left when braking. Brakes feel better but not as good as I wanted them to be but I know they need to bed.
And the wheels havnt fallen off. Success!!

Good job, only note I would have replaced the discs as well, for the little they cost it's worth it

I really wanted to change the discs. But couldn't get them today! And the brakes couldn't wait any longer 😞

quite funny how PSA used that type of caliper on the rear too. Probably not the best stoppers when in good health, they must have been shocking bad when worn.
One thing though it looks like your anti-rattle spring clips are incorrectly installed

anti rattle on a saxo LOL!

Yea they need to be jammed under the upper ear against the retaining slide bit.

And everyone thinks its girly wearing gloves but by god it makes clearing up easier, for the sake of a fiver every now and then.

The rear one is a very similar design too, same kind of pads but much thinner.

OP, where did you buy the pads? Any self respected factor should know which pads to use, theres only 3 for the front of a saxo/106 if stock, the old school ATE one they used on the AX, the one you have and the type for the vented setup (has ears on the end of the pad). They've obviously just not bothered looking at the VIN as that'd make it glaringly obvious.

hahaha yeah its alright you won't hear anything with the whole rest of the car rattling over it. I hate these calipers they're the ones with the stupid pentagon shaped bolts in the carriers aswell so you can't get them off with a normal socket!

I always use gloves, the mess is always a joke so minimise the rank hands!

I got the pads at EurocarParts, the looked identical to mine but had the wear sensor wire installed whereas mine do not have this.

So the clips need to face the top, but the end go under the removable plate thing between the pads lip and calioer?

Thats weird that ECP showed that many. Ah well

Where the clip is fitted now is almost right. The top looped part needs to be on top though with the pad ear, involves some fiddling. Im trying find a picture

yeah thats more like it.
You want these clips fitted right as these calipers, when used on the rear, can have a habit of spitting their pads out when said clips and retaining bars arent installed correctly. Not much fun on the rear brakes but for the fronts thats going to end very badly indeed

Meh I know what I'm doing before work then 😂

The clips are completely wrong!

Those spring clips loop onto the pad ears at the BOTTOM,they shouldn't go near the retaining plate. When fitted correctly the pads should spring back when pushed towards the rear of the car.

You also need a clip ion the inside of the retaining plate to stop it sliding out.

So the picture is right just the wrong way round? On the bottom over the lip between the caliper and pad ?

Hi, sorry for late reply I've been on holiday. yes the clips should be on the bottom lip and causing the pad to spring slightly when pushed towards the centre of the disc.

Watch at 5.40 for the correct fitment of the pad clips.

So each retaining slide bit should have 2 little clips instead of one? Seemed strange as mine just got one, noticed the other day while doing other stuff.

Pretty sure all Saxos wheels are torqued to 85nm,don't do 110,you'll damage the threads overtime.

Yeah think I'll put it down a notch now i know I don't need it that tight. ! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
