Hi all, need a master to help me with this lol, just got a vtr 03 plate for a steel at 100 quid, why a steel you ask? because it doesn't start lol. it turns over really strong now i can here the fuel prime in the tank when i turn the key. now the guy i bought it from said it had a misfire anyhow he did something which burnt the loom from the coil to the fuel relay switch(is that right) one under ecu. So he got a new loom fitted it and all he got was it turning over.

Now i come into the picture, i thought coilpack so changed this and no luck. He said to me that there are two wires (no plug on end) at the back of the block roughly in the middle. Looking online iv noticed there is a sensor at the back on the vtr engine, is this a knock sensor? and if so will it stop the engine from firing if it isnt wired up? your help on this is greatly appreciated. I bought the car to race next year as a track car. thanks for looking

There's also a white (I think) that comes from the ECU that has to go onto the starter motor otherwise the ECU isn't getting a constant live.

but would that not stop the car from turning over??

would love a vts but hard to come by nowadays and are a pretty penny. vtr is perfect for what i want and once the engine gives up and im confident on the track with it may do the conversion. iv read it could be the ecu itself? its not the immo and as i said iv changed the coil pack. with the ignition on without cranking should the coil pack have power? or is it only when its cranked thanks again

Mine will be for sale this week the washer pump had packed up replacement being collected tomorrow so should be going for mot Tues/Wed. Been a great track car for the last 12 months. It could be the ecu I had to replace ours after not connecting that wire but don't know if that caused it or the guy who unlocked it.

The ECU the immobiliser which is near the fuse box & the key are all coded together, they all have to know about each other. But what you can do once you have it running is to unplug the immobiliser then it will not come on again, failing that you can send i off to somebody who will bypass the immobiliser permanently

yeah i read that on here somewhere, iv got to get it running 1st lol, iv ordered some new bosch spark plugs so will see how that goes. As i said in my original post what sensor sits on the back of the block? as mine isn't wired in.

It's the knock sensor should be a 2 wire terminal but I would have thought it would run without it

The crank sensor possibly taken mine off before to see if it was the reason something wasn't working but didn't fire.
