Just posted a new thread asking what has happened to everyone? Just logged on after being away for years my self. Cant believe how dead it all is now. This is the only fourm that appears to still have life on it. saxo sports club gone and 106oc and 106 rallye fourm seem to be completely abandoned. You couldnt get a word in edge ways on all of them years ago. Been playing around with a new project (106 shell impreza running gear) this last year or so and was going to make a project thread now its taking shape and driving but seems pretty pointless

Welcome back Simo, anything in mind for the old girl now that you're back?
Forum wise all the chat has gone primarily due to Facebook etc, of which there's about 6 groups on there alone, some for buying/selling and some for Mk1 VTS for instance.
You still can't beat the forum though for all the years worth of knowledge and how too guides etc, it still has its place.
Activity has dropped dramatically though, it's always been forum home for me, any projects that I've had have always featured in the non-Saxo area. Recently I've acquired a Mercury VTS though, may even get back to a show one day when it's presentable.

As you can see its a complete bodge at the min. Everything is just tacked and loosely fitting purely to move it in and out the workshop and around the yard. Time to spend some dosh on it now and get it caged, stripped, weld the sh*t out of it, paint, and reassemble get some decent seats in and a proper tank. looks like i better get saving!

Yes laaaaaaad. Got a VTR which I call the leaf blower. The exhaust is off a 1.1 so points down and is good at clearing driveways lol. Just a standard VTR which is the workhorse. 45 mpg for the 50 mile round trip to work.
As for the other beast - a fiesta ST 3 'Scratch' - simply the best car I've ever owned, but only slightly ahead of the 182.

Everyone seems to have abandoned forums for facecloth...

Yeah, there's a wealth of knowledge on here still. But with internet protocols and browser requirements developing rapidly, this old sax-p site is getting left behind. Decisions need to be made soon... simplify and down-scale seems to be the logical way.
Last time we made a server hop I went for the easy option and replicated absolutely everything... as it was a bit tricky whilst being abroad. Now we have more options available.
Good luck with the Mercury grey :D

Hey Al - long time no hear!! I've been in Indonesia for almost 5 years! How are things?!?

Welcome back Simo!
Sadly the forum isn't like it was back in it's "hey day" mainly due to Facebook, as it's so simple. Also, a lot of members seem to have "grown up" as such and gone on to bigger and better projects. I have sold up plenty of times, but always seem to see myself back in a Saxo/106. At this time I'm back in my old Saxo VTR I sold 4/5 years ago :panic:
Going back to the point.. It seems that Facebook is the main killer of all Forums, which is a huge shame as Sax-p has always been a great forum, what with years of knowledge and some truly brilliant members to other help/advise. Is there anyway of getting Sax-p linked with Facebook some how? Not sure how many people know about Tapatalk as this really does make getting on the forum an easy and simple task with ease of posting pictures etc.
I know from previous threads that you have been soaking up the cost of keeping the forum alive which is such a great thing!
Perhaps a Sax-p FCS 2017 meet? Try and recruit new members and hopefully get sax-p booming like it used to?
Shannon.

The Saxo is still clearly very popular as Saxo/106/French car Facebook pages are constantly filled with new posts, and the majority of them receive lots of replies (even if a lot of them are drivel). Facebook can never compete with forums for information though. If you Google a question or problem relating to a Saxo, in most cases Saxp is on the first page, if not the top result. And there are countless build/project threads on here that make excellent reads. Facebook just isn’t structured to support that sort of information.
I’d be well up for an FCS meet. I joined a little later than most of the old boys but I’d consider myself to be a fairly active member now.

Its good to see you back and taking Sax-P by the scruff of the neck again.
No denying the traffic going through has significantly reduced, I used to hammer this place 24/7. It is the only place I can scroll through sometimes and see some great memories with great people, some of which I remain close with and some who have drifted off to different pastures.
As the Saxo/106 numbers decline you would have to agree the site traffic is not going to increase, it will be essentially an online archive where the last remaining owners can look back on to get ideas, seek knowledge on their builds and post progress blog updates.
Not all forums have died off, Audi Sport seems to keep going, maybe because its the only VW/Audi forum that hasn't nailed down to one specific model, and as new models come out they're added to its list to grasp a wider audience.
Facebook is easy for the new people coming into modified cars. To those who post a picture on Facebook looking for attention and get likes your body produces dopamine (associated with pleasurable feelings), that encourages them to post more and more, and the snowball effect continues. Maybe bring back rep after all these years? Let it be abused as an encouragement for people to come back?
From a publicity perspective, send out weekly/monthly mailers to your wide list with featured progress blogs for that month, use it as click bait with an eye catching headline. Not only are you giving the old community a reason to click back on here, but the person who writes the progress blog a reason to post more (happy endorphins).
To grab a wider audience, use the track section as a review section for each UK track. Saxo's are seen rarely on track days now, it seems the Megane/Clio/Golf etc are widely used cars so some input from previous Saxo owners who have passed on to post their knowledge of suspension set ups, tyres and brake choices. Those who Google for knowledge on these cars can be lead into this forum.
Anyway, pleased you're back at the helm. Good luck on the task of rebuilding Saxp!
ps. The banners don't quite reflect what I search on google. I've got a lovely advert for Muslim singles at the top of my page.

Have you considered opening the site up to 106s? Ever since 106oc became premium only and had all those issues with viruses the forum pretty much died, and Rallye Register isn’t very active either. It might be worth including 106s within saxp to lift activity. The 106/Saxo and UK French Owners facebook groups are always active, I know a forum is a different platform to a facebook group, but it shows the interest is there.
