Hi all, sorry if this has been answered and i have missed it but i cant seem to find anything after searching through the forums.

I have a Saxo 1.1, Single point injection, HDZ engine, 65k, W reg.

The input shaft on the gearbox is rattling quite bad so im assuming the bearing is shagged.

I have had quotes for a rebuild in the region of 180 to 250 locally.

I can get a replacement box but my local scrap yards dont have ANY saxos or 106's beleive it or not

(will do clutch kit at same time so got to factor that cost in too)

Questions:
Is it feasable to try and replace the bearing myself?
Should i just go for the rebuild?
Do the gearboxes fit from a 1.1 Peugeot 206?
Do the gearboxes fit from a 1.1 C2 or C3?

Thank you for looking.

At one point you couldnt give saxo/106 gearboxes away, especially if there werent one of the sought after kind (gti, rallye, xsi etc).
There still seems to be plenty of them on ebay though even if some breakers are asking daft money for tired old boxes

Yeah ebay it is i guess, id rather just see it first, give the input shaft a feel see if its as bad as mine, then there is hefty postage unless i collect it.

Cheers people.

Scott.

Only in Donny!
Probably cheaper in person if you turn up with cash.
