www.parkcameras.com - if their price is cheaper than Jessops (and on the 30D it is some £300 cheaper), print the page out and wave it under their nose, they have a price match "guarantee" which they are not at all happy to offer, but they will do it in the end - when I get home tomorrow and am back on the Broadband, I will look at your links and see if they are good value!

Park Cameras is more expensive than Jessops!
Seems Jessops are very cheap at the moment, but the price on their website might be a web only deal.
The only bad thing I can think of with the 350D is the size - it's very small!

Deal prices seem ok dave? Worthwhile spending extra on the 2 lense deal?

449 for the body + short lens
699 for the body + short lens + medium lens + grip
hmm, could be good - grip is about 120 and the 55-200 lens is about 130

they are great bits of kit
don't hold out much for that 55-200 lens though, it's ok and will get you going, just don't expect immensely sharp photos from that one.

possibly a better bet just getting the smaller lense then and purchasing a different medium lense seperately?
Hmm i really need to read some of the stuff in here and understand what these numbers all mean on the lenses

I think fred did a good thread somewhere
however, understanding "what the numbers mean" is only half of it!

old thread being bumped!!!
mr galpin sir, if i was looking at buying a digital slr.. would you reacon the 350d or the new 400d would be better, and also, for mainly motorsport pics, what lens would you recommend for either camera? and also, where is best to buy??

Either 350 or 400 would do the job, there might be some 350D bargains to be had now the 400D is out so have a hunt around.
www.warehouseexpress.com or www.mifsuds.com for the best prices
Lenses...how long is a piece of string?
Most UK circuits need a lot of focal length ie more than 300mm to get good results
Sigma make some ok cheap zooms, so do Canon.
Both companies also make some expensive zooms.
What's your budget?
Less than £200 for a Sigma 70-300 or Canon 75-300.
Less than £500ish gets you a Canon 70-200f4, just over gets you a Sigma 70-200f2.8EX
etc, ad infinitum ;)
