Hey everyone,
I bought a 1.1 Saxo First the other week for £230 as a daily run around as my wife drives our 'proper' car to commute to work.
It's 2001, Red, with black plastic front and rear bumpers. To be honest, for a 16 year old car with 97k on the clock, it's in amazing condition apart from a few scratches on the near side front wing.
I won a set of VTS alloys refurbed in gun metal grey wrapped in matching tyres with loads of thread from ebay for £50, travelled 120 miles to pick them up and bought a front set of brilliant condition VTS seats for an extra tenner.
My plans are to have it lowered just a little (Speed bumps around my place of work), probably a front end VTR/S bumper, arch and side skirt conversion and keep it generally tidy. I've already de-wipered it and given it a quick polish. The main perk of having this little thing is keeping it clean, running well and knowing it costs buttons to run! I would like a VTR/S one day but couldnt justify spending extra on insurance etc for a work runaround.
There are a few bits that need sorting as follows:
- Wipers don't park
- Slight knocking turning left & right
- The horrendous height it currently sits at
- Engine bay clean
It's pointless doing any engine modifications to it as you can't really benefit from them on such a small engine. If i got the car physically and mechanically to somewhere i'm happy with, i'd consider popping a VTR engine in but i've had a 106 1.1 and a quicksilver in the past and considered it, so i guess it won't happen!
I'll try and get some pictures up shortly, it hasn't been properly waxed yet so it's not as shiny as it could be!
