Hey guys,
My saxo is lacking the black vinyl strip on the door. I kinda like the look of it so Im wondering what kind a wrap to use for it.
Are these matt black or glossy? Can't really tell from the photos I can find, not many closeups.
Could one of you make a good quality closeup photo of it, pretty please?
I was also thinking about using one of these peelable paints, something like plasti dip, in matte black.
What do you think?

well mine had the factory strips, i took them off but alot of residue got left, under the residue there were alot of scratches (deep) so i wraped the B pilar with cheap wallmart carbon fibre vinyl (which has a texture) i know it looks maybe cheap but imo it looks decent for the price the wrap costs, i also did the fuel door.

The standard vinyl is thick textured satin finish.

I could take a picture tomorrow?

That'd be great mate, I just need some reference when picking the material. I kinda want it to be as close to original as possible.

they sell these on ebay which are decent, i know its cheaper to make them yourself but this is ready cut for 15 quid delivered which isn't bad

Im aware of these. Seems like this seller ships to Poland for free aswell.
Are these the kind that you apply using water? If not, then how am I supposed to get it on the right way?

Oh that link is exactly the right stuff.

There's usually plenty of overlap. lay it down gently before pressing it hard.

Good point guys, these would probably be the best.
Not even that expensive if they won't quote me for shipping it there.
On the other hand I could get a roll of cheap ass vinyl, 10 beers and a buddy to help.
My Polak brain refuses to fathom how this is a dillema

What about some "wrinkle paint" ? ;)

ideal! masking tape it up and spray it on.

Would be too invasive I guess.
Found something that should resemble these ebay ones with colour and structure. Gonna have to do, will report when I get to do it.
Gonna ask you anyways, what do you think about it? Shouldn't be too bad aight?

This is much cheaper than I thought it could be. Even more beers.

That looks perfect!

Disgusting all over the bodywork though ahahah!

It is an SUV, makes no difference mate.
Bonus question: how do I securely fit bootlid badges? Some sort of thin double sided tape? The foamy type would be noticeable and ugly I guess.
If I should use glue, then what kind?
Mine are disguisting and I plan to get some mint looking ones.
These pins are just to guide the badge in the holes, right?

It was done with a peelable paint (Motip dupli sprayplast). Took it off because I wanted to do a better job at it next time, but now I can't decide if I want it or not. Whatcha think?
Gonna use real plastidip next time thought, this motip stuff is liquid shit.

I've used foamy type, you don't really notice if you trim it carefully :)

Yes the pins make sure it goes in the correct place, so no worries about them being squint.

Plasti-dip is piss thin too, needs 4-5 coats probably

How were they fitted originally? Maybe some sort of silicone glue would do a better job than tape?

I think originally it's a thin double sided rubber tape.

I used bathroom sealant on my 106 GTI badges and theyve been on 5 years now haha!

Improvised repairs/designs last the most time.
I did the strips.

Some of the black coating on side windows is worn out as you can see thought.
Is there a way to fix it?

No there is no way to fix that, it is de-laminating.

Unless you can scrape it off and paint it :P

Had some left-over wrap so I decided to use it on the bumper also. Much better than this shitty paint.
Used 3m design line knifeless tape, amazing stuff.
