hello im new on here. I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use a standard TU5J4 head for a turbo conversion if not what work is needed? And is the TU5JP4 head a better option? TIA :A:

I saw your pm :)

Yeah so my understanding of it is this, solid lifters are needed for high revving engines. turbocharged engines in general don't like being revved as the turbo starts becoming a restriction. you wouldn't choose a turbo to operate in the high rev range anyway as the lag will make it absolutely dog shit to drive at low rpms.

So the head being totally standard should be fine.

Depends what you mean by big power.

I would suspect that 300hp upwards will need some work done to the ports along with new valves etc.

There's plenty of high power turbo builds on here, have a look around :y:
