Right, I have got a Ripspeed stereo and some 6x9's to fit into my VTR. The guy at halfords said the 6x9's will go with the stereo no problem and i wont need anything else. However - the box says it will run a maximum of 4 speakers! and the instructions inside jsut keep refering to an AMP - did the kiddy talk crap or will it power all 6?? or if not what will i need and how ££ to get it all working???????????

cheers

well im running front speakers, rear speakers and 6x9's off the headunit lol, just spliced the 6x9 wires into the rear speaker wires and they run fine.

Did your head unit advise the maximum was 4 or 6?

Are you going to be getting a sub(s)

if so sell the 6x9s on :)

Did the kid know u were planing on wiring 6 speakers to it? Looks like he thought u were just runing the 6x9's

I suppose u could still do this and split 2 of the outputs, the results wouldnt be pretty though i dont expect.

Best to get an amp id say, you wont need anything fancy if your only putting 6x9s through it. Upgrading the standard saxo speakers (front 2 anyway) might be on the cards too if your going the amping route.

What a spraff of a response lol and im still going, maybe dissconnect the 2 rear speakers (assuming your 6x9s are going in the rear of the car somewhere) and wire the 6x9s up instead of the standard rears?

no just wanted some 6x9's not into getting sub etc...just need to know if i will need to disable the back rear speakers and connect 6x9's instead as it says maximum output of 4 speakers???????????

You could keep splicing wires and adding more speakers, the sound quality and volume will just keep deteriorating though, best to stick to how ever many clean outputs you have, in this case 4.

splicing wires is not a good way to go, it can go either of 2 ways:

1) you show a higher ohm load to the headunit and the speakers will be receving less power than they should
2) you show a lower ohm load to the head unit and the internal amp overheats and kills the head unit.

i know its not the best way to go, its only temporary at the moment, im getting a better headunit and front speakers and ditching the 6x9's, this is only to last me a couple of months lol.

you could disconnect the rear speakers and then attach the 6x9 wires onto them maybe?

wat about if i disconnect the back speakers and use the 6x9s instead? will that improve the sound etc?????????

that will be the best way to go mate. that way you will get the best out of the unit and you will get rid of the 10cm crap speakers in the rear.
