Right guys, basically i'm in the shit.
My insurance ran out yes2day, i've applied for an insurance policy in my mums name for £780 or what ever a year fully/c. After thinking long and hard all day about what i have done, the excess all adds up to £600 and my wheels and exhaust aint on the policy.
I have a 1.1i worth £900(max i rekon). Would it be worth in my case to go for TPFT? (£865 per year), with wheels and zorst on it. Also do you earn a no claim bonus. and finally would elephant.co.uk be an ok insurance company to go with rather that tescos.
Please help..
Thanks

hear this,
TPFT is good till you crash :P, if you crash while on TPFT and its your fault, u get no money back off the policy, and no car :P so not only do ya pay ya excess, ya get to keep your written off car, with no compensation for the pains in ya back for new few days hehe
i'm on TPFT no crashes yet after 7 months, good if your a good driver like moi :D
hope this helps

www.confused.com is always good place to look for insurance. There are a list of insurers on sax-p too.

Doesn't this also mean if all sound equipment gets half inched you have nothing? But if I was fully comp my excess would be so high anyway it would be cheaper to just buy a new cd player and sub etc. Hmm. Might aswell do TPFT for this year then hope it drops for next year. I think?

i was doing quote the other day on if i had 1 years no claims and if i had just 1 years driving exp. tbh it was a saving of about £100.....best to do some quote of if u had 1 years NCB snd 2 years exp or just 2 years exp and see how much you will save with that 1 years no claims

In your situation mate id go tpft wihtout a doubt, because if you crash even if it aint your fault you only get the huge amount of 540 quid (60% of car value, assesed in how much you would get for it in the current market) to fix it. And if the crash was anything more than a slight nudge then your fucked anyway. So you may aswell go tpft and make sure its all legal with declarations. Pretty much settles it IMO

You may have hastle claiming if its in your mums name.
Think my Y plate VTS will be insured 3rd party next year unless I can get a good price, mods covered new for old. I think I'd get about 2k or something pissy for it now from my insurers so the mods would probably net me a load more!

Id go TPFT seen as you will be on your own policy (so earning no claims bonus) plus if your car is only worth 900 and you will have a £600 excess there isnt much point going comprehensive.
Im with elephant aswell. Seem to be alright. I havent had any problems with them. Been with them for about 8 months now.
And i think you have 14days to cancel a policy from the day you start it. Aslong as you dont make a claim you wont be charged. Canceling after its been going awhile might cause you to have to pay somethink. If youve made a claim in that time you will have to pay for whole year.

I have to pay mine in two instalments, at the begginning and at 6 months. But i got my rents to pay for it and then i pay them the amount /6 monthly which works out at about 50 quid. Which is gay seeing as i have no car now lol

well the outcome was exhaust and wheels on with elephant.com on my own insurance. TPFT £775 for 10months. was the only way i could afford it. not too bad though imo
