Peeps, I noticed that the red part of the gauge on a VTR covers almost quarter of the tank - when the actual RED light comes on anyone know ROUGHLY how many miles u av left until it actually dies? (based on average driving not motorway)

Cheers

I pushed it to about 45 miles of eco driving once. Got 47 litres into the tank, implying that i was onto the fumes

Nope, you can't go anywhere on fumes. You can empty the tank out and still move as there will be some in the fuel filter/pipes etc

Thats what your fuel filter is for, to stop shite getting in.

On the vtr it came on with 5 litres of fuel left which would get me 50/60 miles.

On my vts it comes on with about 13 litres of fuel left which might get me 80/90/100 depending

The only time i ever drive with the red light is when i have to.. simply because there isent a station near by... No point in running the car on crap.. will haunt you in the future. So i honestlly cant say how many miles i get..

I set off for work yesterday with light on. 12 miles to work. Then did delivery at about 11am - light had gone off! Drove to boatyard where I store my dinghy, light came back on. Did an hour's work on boat, drove home with light off.

Started feeling confused about the state of my fuel and the light, so filled up when I was almost back home.

Dunno whether to take any notice of that damned light or not.....

Ive done about 25 miles on my fuel light, would never want to push it any more than that, just in case its reading more than what it really has in it.

I did about 90miles once on the red. Couldnt be assed to fill up at the rip merchants along the m1. so just filled up when i got home instead.

According to Cittyroen the light comes on at 5 litres.

When my light comes on i park my car on a slight downhill, turn the car off and back on, and suddenly i have more petrol :), soon goes way back down again though lol, so is it really only 4 litres left when the light on a vts comes on?.

can't help but think your lieing there, either that or your car is 120mm on the rear and not lowered at the front so it always thinks there is less in the tank than there actually is

Didnt realise you had that much left once the light came on!

Cant believe some of you, i would never run mine on it for that long, 2miles max, just drags up all the shit!

Barry123

Luke

With modern cars nowadays you don't end up dragging the shit through as the Fuel Filter protects that from doing so.
