someone decided to reverse into my vts, how they did it ill never know as it was parked up at the time (they managed to move it 20 feet) ,
car needs new front bumper
new bonnet
new wing
new wheel arch
new headlight
new bumpstrip
How much will this cost on the insurance (im fully comp so wont have to pay anything out , what percentage of the value must it be over for a write off)
will get some pics up soon, gutted though

Do you not pay excess?
Robb
27th September 2006, 12:49
Isn't it like 60% of the value of the car then they write it off?
Barry123
27th September 2006, 12:49
ermmm... other persons insurance surely?
unless you actually binned it

Mate thats well bad, what twats. Thats insane 20 feet they must have been high or something. They will repair upto 60% of a cars estimated current market value before they class it a write off, but they dont mind if you pay the rest if its a few hundred over.

its on his insurance was a 50 year old man (Bet he didnt have his glasses on) , will have to pay 100 excess if its written off. I have spent a fortune on it though so dont really want it writing off as the insurance company dont take that into account

cant open the bonnet to have a look as its pushed the front of it back about an inch

he'll have to pay £100 excess yeah?
I'm not sure what the insurance company considers when a modded car is binned. Personally I'd want a like-for-like replacement if someone decked my car - it wasnt my fault.

Not good mate....
He will have to pay your excess as it's his fault.... to write it off it's got to be 65%+ of the vehicles value i believe before they'll write it off...
(hoping you declared everything on your insurance too)
Good luck mate.. hope it works out :)

fairy snuff.
But i find it weird that you have a car... it gets wreaked by some mofo. and you dont back what you originally had.
I can understand that the car depreiciates and thus the payout will get smaller and smaller overtime. but in modified cases they should at least cover the costs of having all the mods again surely.
insurance companies are Grade A nobbers, but surely thats low, even of them...

That won't be written off. My girlfriend smashed her saxo up twice as bad at the front and the car was worth less than yours and it got repaired. Still shit though, is he being ok about it or not?

new bonnet
new wing
new wheel arch
new headlight
new bumpstrip
that aint 800s, no chance, a headlight is 70 from citroen, a bonnet, wing and front bumper will add a nice chunk onto that, then bump strip and arch, then spray them all up, id say its more than that

Unlucky to hear that mate, hope all goes well.
