:(
I had a nasty incedent last monday night in the saxo, which ended up with her bursting into flames on the dual carriage way!
Unfortunatley she is no more
dont know what caused it, but we just stopped and she had a shit load of flames bellowing out of her. got out just in time!
i couldnt have been the charger as it wasnt touched since silverstone TRAX, and i think that she was running alot hotter that day then she was on monday.
so all the hard work with the supercharger has been a waste of time, im gutted! i have also spent a shit load of cash on her over the last few months, all gone up in smoke. i could have got myself a few more saxos with that dosh LOL, never mind.
i wanted to tell you guys sooner but i had been rushed to a job in holland and just got back today. i will get some pics up when i can get them off my phone.
But she will hopefully be replaced by another this week :)
fingers crossed.

we will see what replacement i end up with, im on the prowl lol
i have to say a big thankyou to all the peeps that helped me along the way with the project even tho it was in vain lol and a big thanks to RATTY :)
keep an eye out in the for sale section, as i will probs have a few bits and bobs on there for sale when i get time, but im uber busy at the moment with work so it may be a while.

just fitted a bigger rad and header tank in the morning, could be something to do with that?
doubt it was the charger, i was giving her some stick at trax and she was running really hot with old rad, if she was going to give, it would have been then. i was only doing 60ish on the dual carrage way.
not to worry lol
i was going to get a bigger car, but i love the saxos lol ;)

Hi mate, sorry to hear of the bad news, cant remember your saxo but am just glad to hear your okay.
Cars are material things in the end, we cant replace you mate!
Im very interested to find out why it happened! Was it a DIY kit or was work done professionally on the car?
Take care mate, night night for now.

30th September 2006, 08:51
cheers guys.
i will defo stick around here ;)
i want another saxo, but the missus is going off it because she knows i wont be able to leave it standard lmbo :)
im going looking at a few today.
the car is fire damaged from the front, the engine bay is like a bomb site lol, anything plastic, rubber or wiring has gone. the fire dudes lobbed a big rod down thro the rocker cover to fill engine will water, so that will be fooked.
fire never got thro the bulk head but has took all the paint off the bonnet and wings, melted the bumper and lights too, along with the side indicators and arches. the charger, pipe work, intercooler, oil cooler, rad, header tank etc are a bit chard but will probs be fine. the manifold is still ok along with the heat wrap! LMBO the roll cage, buckets and gti 180 brakes seem ok too.
the alloys dont look to bad, but the brand new 45 profile tyres had only been on the car for 400 miles and they went pop :(
it will be too hard to fix her up i think. defo best off getting another car for now anyway.
i really want to find out what caused it, but you carnt really tell when you look at it.
pics are on there way :)

Sorry to hear it Boz, when mine was charged mine nearly went up in smoke when i blew the gearbox up on the motorway as the oil went all over the manifold and as that was so hot set it alight :S
Anything left of anything?
boz
30th September 2006, 10:06
Chris: yep they were on, but they seem ok :)
Somers: hello mate :)
the charger and intercooler, oil cooler, new rad and gmc header tank seem a bit chared but look ok, but not sure if the heat will have damaged the internals on the charger?? all the lovely new boost pipes, wiring etc have all gone. i think the extra injector will be shot too, but i have a spare new one. dont know what happend really, i looked the next day in the company car and there was no oil on the road, if a pipe burst it would have hit the deck too leaving a trail before it went up and there was nothing. the car never gave any signs of going went i noticed she was on fire. she was just cruising along doing 60. she has blew an oil pipe off before but that was sorted before trax and i was giving her some around the track and she was fine and running hotter then than she was the other day.
only thing i can think of is the diesel rad and header tank i fitted, maybe caurght a cable or something?
never mind, not sure what to do now? lol
boz
30th September 2006, 10:08
the heat wrap i got off ebay for the manifold with stood the flames, so i can recommed that to anyone thinking of getting some, tried and tested and works a treat lol :)

cheers, im in dyer need of a new car, but dont want to rush into anything a end up with a shitter. but i only have a few days off work as they are a bunch of TW@s, i had the accident and they still sent me on a job the next day, i asked for time off, only to be told i was going to america on monday, then that changed to holland, i went there on the condition that i would get time off when i got back.
got home yesterday and they are sending me away on monday for a few weeks, they think you can find a car you want and drive it away there and then!!!!
ive seen a few vts but they are over priced and are not in immaculate nick like i would want. The Audi S3s are tho, so im not sure what to do and time is running out lol
