I have two DB Audio 12" subs and a 1200watt amp ready to go into my ICE system and i'm making a fibre glass boot build at the moment but i'd like to have crossovers in the system as well because they would look good with it all.
However, i was wanting to know what are there actual purpose in an ICE system and would it suit mine?
Also i've seen fuses up close to subs that are enclosed in perspex (like crossovers) that are being displayed. Is this the same as the fuse at the battery for the power cable for the amp, only its a fancier one to show off further down the cable?
thanks

Crossovers as i'm told by Scott, split the signal betweeen mid speakers and tweeters providing a better sound.
No idea about anything else sorry.
Try to PM scott.

cross overs are circuits designed to sort out frequencies.
On a component set of speakers they split the frequencies into bass+lower notes and treble+higher notes.
They are there to stop speakers playing frequencies that could damage them or make them work inefficeintly (sp)
If you were using crossovers for subs then these will stop the sub from receiving higher frequencies that a sub will struggle to play and could potentially damage the sub, the crossover will allow the sub to concentrate on purely playing bass and lower frequencies which it was made for

sorry forgot about the other parts smileys/smiley17.gif
Yes potentially they will suit your system
yes the other fuses are just there for show BUT remember the one inline near the battery MUST always be there
The other scenario is the fuses are part of a distributor block. This is used so that multiple power sources can be taken from one point, say for multiple amps. Still the main fuse is near the battery
