Um, what????

When i spoke to an insurance company about insuring a 306 1.9tdi (don't ask) i got a massive quote. i asked why and she explained that it was a 1.9 and was turbo charged and this is what increased the quote.

Im guessing that they may be a different insurance group but they will be very similar prices.

some insurance companys talk out of there ass. its the people on the other end of the phone that dont no what they are talking about. i had a rover 220td and they are only group 5 and i was paying more for that than i am for me vts.

They are the same car...

The difference in insurance groups is purely down the testing methods. This is why you might see the VTS is quicker 0-62 than the GTi. It's only because the VTS is tested with a full car load (or something like two in the front and two in the back) and the GTi isn't. They did this to keep the weight and therefore insurance group down.

the VTS is apparently more inviting to thiefs then the GTi. hence the higher insurance costs.

I thought it was just the fact that the VTS had a quicker book 0-60; therefor higher group

You mean the GTi tested with a full car loads Damo. Tut tut.

Only messing mate

Yea when I was deciding between the VTS and GTi, the differences were just a few £100s with some insurers, then only a tiny difference like £20 with others.
