I was never really over impressed with my old camera it did ok with my holidays pics but i always found out they would never seem to cope with all the diffrent types of lighting wether it be dark or bright sunshine etc! anyway the lead was playing up so decided to take it back to tescos and exhange it ;) i decided to go for a well known name rather than the higher megapixel so i changed from the 5.0 praktica (ithink) camera to this nikon 4.0 and tested it out over teesside park tonight. really happy with how they have turned out, they have lost a slight bit of quality after resizing! would like to hear your opinions and how i can improve photos! thanks

sexual danny.
on the second one... im unsure whether you wanted you car blurred or some random bit of the tarmac in focus...
not sure what you did but i would have set the camera to timer. lined up the car to be infocus, half pressed the shutter button (camera focuses on the zee vts) then pushed all the way down - giving enough time to put the camera on the floor and settle properly for a sharp shot.

no it was left on the green saxo's parcel shelf or on the floor and the timer put on lol

Think the white balance is out, just a bit!
Read your manual on how to set a 'custom white balance'.
This took about 3 minutes in Photoshop

Compared to your one

Use one of the presets if you can't get an 18% grey card to set your white balance using the custom feature - instructions are in the err...instruction book. Once you get it somewhere near right it's easily changed in Photoshop. Even easier if you shoot RAW too...
Basically take pic of something that is white in the light conditions you are shooting in, go to the custom white balance function and select that image blah blah...it's easier than it sounds, and worth doing. I've heard the tops of Pringles tubs work a treat - seriously!

night pics tend to go reddy-coloured so just play about with the custom white balance setting trying to get the whole image more bluey-whitey for a realistic photo.
