Hi there, I'm new to this forum, and need some info regarding saxo engine bay size and if any1 has tried anything similar. Basically, I own a Pulsar GTI-R smileys/smiley17.gif , and have a spare nissan ST20DET engine (Same as pulsar) which I am going to try to squeeze into a Saxo smileys/smiley5.gif The engine will have a few bits stripped from it (aircon pump for one)and the intercooler will go up front (on top as standard) and I am sure it will involve lots of chopping/hacking to the engine bay.I should be getting a VTS from salvage yard in next week or so which was crashed head on which will be donar car. Because GTIR is 4WD, I won't be using the rear trans at all. When I get photos of car, i'll post em'up. If successful, should produce around 310BHP smileys/smiley2.gif Any info welcome!

Sounds interesting... BUT, one of the things that helps to make the GTi-R stupidly quick is the 4WD... Now that would be a project!! smileys/smiley14.gif

lol,yes it would!! Unfortunatly, I only have the front half of the gearbox-I would need prop, rear diff etc all of which are very hard to come by these days, not to mention lack of trans tunnel on saxo.Would be cool tho smileys/smiley17.gif

Why not put the engine in the back and make it RWD that would be awesome!!! smileys/smiley17.gif

4WD Saxo would have been pretty cool. Think you would have been the first in the world. smileys/smiley4.gif

Ye 4WD would be cool, but I don't think a RWD would be very "driveable" smileys/smiley14.gif I used to have a renault 5GT turbo 2, which was mid engined RWD and it was, to put it mildly, twitchy smileys/smiley11.gif

Yeah, I agree the rear engined option would be "twitchy" smileys/fcuk.gif especially if boosted!

There has been a 106 converted with an RS Turb lump in the rear.. a video clip of it on the site.

I dont know much about the GTi-R lump, but the Saxo bay isnt very big smileys/smiley5.gif

Ye, U can see why it's gonna be interesting!! smileys/smiley5.gif It actually isnt as bad as it looks-The battery, water bottles etc would have to go in the back, the entire air-con system is coming off and it will be frontmounted with a smaller than most frontmounts IC.Things like the fuseboxes might have to go elsewhere as well- I think it will be a case of offering the engine up, then cutting smileys/smiley3.gif should be interesting if nothing else!!!

Meant to say, did a project about 8 or 9 years ago where we got an Astra GTE engine into a Nova with not too many problems.Went like stink as well smileys/smiley17.gif
