Problems with rear of car

Hi Guys, have just brought my car back from the garage and have been told that the drivers rear axel bearings are worn and there is play on the wheel, i've also been told that the anti-roll-bar bushes need replacing to rectify a clattering noise at the rear.

Has anyone had to have this done, and if so how much did you pay?

I've been quoted somewhere on the lines of 400-500 quid.

Any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

Sounds on the extreme of pricey there. I dont know how much it should roughly cost but for me alarm bells are ringing that theres a rip off somewhere in that quote.

Ask what parts are needed, get a list and price them up somewhere locally even if its a citroen garage to give you an idea

yeh thats what I thought. Spoke to another garage and they said it would be a citroen only job, which to be honest I can't image being true?

All I know so far is a axel bearing kit and anti-roll-bar bushes....

you can buy a decent second hand axel with rear discs on for half that fella

Thanks customer_vtr....are there any other places that you can get them from besides scrappers, which its very rare to find one there anyway.

How easy is it to re-fit a new one?

hi there just doing a vts axle up at the mo bearing kits per side are about £36/£38 each side not to bad to do main prob is if the shafts are damaged that the bearings sit on if they are i can replace them for you and you do the bearings that would keep the price down for you you can buy second hand but BE CAREFULL .i,ve been bitten hence the repair

i got mine from a scrappy thats on ebay called tiffany's spares or somthing like that. if there arn't any listed give them and some other people on ebay a ring as quite a lot of saxo's break on there.....hope this helps:thumbup: mi dads mate did mine cheap as chips so duno how much it would cost at a garage
