My mate was overtaking a pulled over bus (so not going too fast, prob under speed limit) when a kid decide's to run out in front of the bus and run into the side of my mates car. my mate looks in his mirror and the kids walking off. (so my mate thinks nothing of it) Gets home tells his mum and his mum tells him to report it just in case. He didnt tho.

This morning comes and he gets arrested.

Turns out the kids got a broken foot as the back wheel ran over it. And the bus driver got my mates reg and reported it.

My mate got away with a caution for ...Leaving crime scene and not reporting it.

He's been told to expect a claim from the kids parents tho!

well, you know what they say about parents knowing best...

Bit unlucky that the kid actually got hurt though if he appeared to walk away fine.

Kids fault, little cunt should know not to run out infront of busses, only thing your mate did wrong was driving off.

he really should have stopped to check everyone was ok. its his fault for driving off. i would never just drive of if i hit someone in my car or they hit me. one, to check if they were ok but to also check my car was ok.

i would expect a BIG claim as well

Even if I saw the kid walking off I'd still stop the car, just to make sure I didn't have a mark where the nonse ran into me.

I don't see what his parents can make a claim against him for. The kid ran out from behing a bus, if you pal wasn't speeding then he did nothing wrong. The fact that he hit the side of the car rather than the front shows that he would have had no time to stop or do anything about it.

if anyone is hit by your car, you should stop. 1) out of decency.. and 2) its just common sense!

tell your mate hes a fool 0_0 but also unlucky he got nicked.. not meaning to be harsh, but he deserves it..

If i went home when i was a kid and said ide ran out infront of a buss and a car ran over my foot my parents would tell me "good tis your own fault, should have looked where you was going"

If a little sh!t ran out into the side of my car I would have chased the little bugger!

It's common sense to stop - if only to make sure your car's ok!

yep, i know. i personally would have stopped, 90% of drivers would have. but obviously he thought oh he's walking off he must be ok.
definatly the kids fault for running out and like you said certifiable he hit the side of the car so not my mates fault for what happened.

i thinks it's cheeky that they are claiming as it was blatently the kids fault.

My dads in the police and he said the insurance comp will look at it as, he was overtaking a bus which could have been a potential risk anyway and he could have been speeding, and could have been a dangerous menouver. (they cant prove if he was speeding or not apart from the kid and the bus driver's statements, but still not obvious proof)

he's got away with a warning anyway so he's very lucky.

The bus driver won't be able to say whether your mate was doing 30mph or 35 so unless your mate was doing a stupid speed they cant proove he was speeding :)

yeh but until you actually hit someone, then ask yourself that question!!
he shoulda checked the kid was ok,thats just like being in a hit n run, whether the kid was at fault or not he shoulda stopped,
i was unlucky enough to hit an old woman in my work van,she was at fault, the police had the road closed cause it was an rta
scared the shit out of me,i got treated for shock while she got a broken leg,it makes you more wary of pedestrians
also i couldnt give a flying fcuk if someone moans about paragraphs

If for whatever reason a claim is made make sure you request to see a medical report or something proving the childs injuries
