I sold my beloved Impreza over a year ago to a fellow Impreza owners club member who recently sold it again and I thought I'd make sure it was still in safe hands so I put this post on the owners club to see if it was ok:

HI,

I use to be an active member a while back but I sold my Impreza to another forum member Solosteve who has since sold the car again......Anyway a nice looking Impreza sport drove past me the other day which made me think of my old car.

Does anyone know if its still going strong?

Here's a pic:

This might be a lost cause but I thought it was worth a go :)

Cheers

Steve

I was really shocked by the reply:

this car should have been scrap metal
before i even bought it from you steve

really dont fink even you know about its history
but im sure you bought it from a friend.....

its such a shame i didnt hpi check before hand
i just trusted you view's on the car,
and all you told me about it...

well when the new owner bought it from me
and hpi checked it...

well i never.....cat d total loss...
of 8k to the insurance company

well the guy still bought it after a long haggle over money
with me droping dosh like...well it never should have happened...

i really had no choice to sell the car thou:, as i had a new one sitting in the drive
well im pleased i did now....tbh.

as for the Q is it still about,

ive heard that the guy that got it from me { rob }
had a crash in it...GOD BLESS HIM...

again a total loss to the insurance company....not really surprized...

but all in all its probley out there some where, being driven...
I knew nothing od its merky past I had acquired from a Garage with full warranty, RAC checks etc...

I sold the car in good faith and feel really bad about the whole affair but if its taught me one things its to HPI every car I buy regardless of what the seller says.

I'm really gutted about it all.

Very unlucky mate and I know what you mean about feeling bad, I would do aswell.

I'd only buy with an HPI check aswell now, feel so much better.

No it didn't make a scrap of difference to me but I still feel bad that I sold some ropey car to someone who didn't deserve all that hassle.

There's not alot I can do now as I knew nothing of its history but I cant help feeling bad about it.

Guess your still going to feel bad as its fresh news and still a bit of a shock.

Its in the past now, as you said "what can you do"

At least you never lost out, its the main positive aspect of the story.

i would always HPI check it first! you never know someone might have it on fianca and try and sell it, whoever buys it has to also pay the fiance back aswell! would take the risk

Its really tough luck to the lad that brought it from you.He cant blame you for anything he should of got it check before he bought it.

Mate its his fault, he didn't HPI check it. Its his job as the buyer to not buy a dog or what not, that involves hpi checking it. Did he ask you if it was HPI clear? if NO then you shouldn't feel bad at all. But if you said its HPI clear then yer, that is very bad,.

Well then don't feel bad its completely his fault!!! I understand why you do feel bad but its really the buyers responsibility to check

if u text 88600 with CHECK C (number plate) without the brackets and all in capitals.

£1.50 it costs.

I thought it was more £45 so that text things seems a bargain.

no £1.50 they charge per car via reverse message.
it defo works cus ive done it on a few cars.

it tells you what cat (if damaged/and when insurance paid out)
any plate changes (i think) and a few other details
it is pretty general but for £1.50 it gives u main details.
there is a catch to it though, if you want full details right down to the dots and crosses - you have to ring a premium rate line.

you can also get free hpi checks on the net.
google it!
