So, there I am drivin over to see my old folks last night. Dirty night last night so I was ploddin along at 70-75 in the middle lane of the A13 when all of a sudden . . .
Ping ! ? ! Bang . . . Scrape Scrape Scrape. . . . . :fcuk:
I look in my mirror to see my spare wheel skidding along behind me, while my spare wheel cage scrapes along underneath me! Crap Crap Crap, so I pull over asap, and open the boot to find out why the cage dropped.
I lift the boot carpit up to check the bolt/hook that holds the cage up only to find the hook along with about an inch of bolt is missin!
I tie the cage up with cable ties then had to dodge on coming motorway traffic to get my spare wheel back! Lets just say I had to change my underwear wen I got home.
Only thing is, when I got the wheel back to the car it looks like some has hit the wheel as there is the biggest dent in it Ive ever seen! I looked around and while drivin home I couldnt see anyone that had pulled over with half their bumper missing so I think I as well as all the over traffic got away very lucky.
It wasnt till I got home untill I though wow I could have been road kill and made the 10 oclock news :-(

same happend to me, but i had only just put one of my normal wheels back on my car after doing the brakes. Shit myself because i though one of my normal wheels had fallen off haha. Luckily it was late at night and no one was around. Crapped myself though.

could the dent not be from the wheel hitting the floor?
didnt have this problem as had the sparewheel removed when i had the exhausts done

i imagine the dent was from it hitting and bouncing/scraping along at 70mph.
unlucky though. i've heard of this happening a few times with saxo's, maybe its a common fault that needs to be sorted.

lol you got to love saxo's... I'd look out because next your arches will start falling off doing 70mph.. or was it only me that happened to?

The exact same thing happenend to someone else a few weeks back and he had to do a mad dash back along the motorway on foot to retreive the wheel too lol. Those bolts seem to snap awfully easily
Iv always got cable ties in the car lol, they come in handy for everything and are much stronger than the paperclips citreon use to hold saxos together :P

Yer I think so :-) Did you spot me? Bet you saw my Spoiler 1st before the rest of the car :-)
If there is anything to learn from this . . . Go check your spare wheel bolt.
How funny would it have been if it had happened at somewhere like Santa Pod on the strip :-O How embarrasing would that be!
