2001 Y Reg CITROEN Saxo 1.6i 16v VTS

eDoors, Manual, 51,000 miles, finished in Gold metallic. 12 months MOT, 12 months Parts and Labour warranty, 17 inch alloy wheels, CD Player, power steering, remote central locking, twin airbags, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Immobiliser, Sunroof. Superb example, only £3,999.

Had a little look at this today as its 10 mins away from my house, looks OK but put off a bit by the boy racer image its got, sticker on window, alloys and a massive exhaust. Probley been ragged. Ended up seeing another VTS at that garage, a white one. Looked alot better and was a grand cheaper which not much more milage.

Na, the above pics are from autotrader and the white ones not on there. But if im around there tomoz i'll grab a pic using my phone. The white one looks smart, standard looking but I think lowered which would be a bonus. With some nice white alloys the white one would look ace

BTW.... the majority of Saxo's have been "Ragged", they were made to be wragged mate, although i do look after mine i cant guarentee the 3 previous owners didn't ragg it, u could say that about any sax... as long as its got FSH, interior/exterior is clean and tidy and milage can be proved then i would buy it!

Can't agree there. Id rather buy a standard saxo from a 1 owner old lady than a 5 owner tarted up one - if had the option

It is pot luck but there is precautions than will lower the odds of buying a dog, in any car

My VTR is sat on 17's and i feel they dont look big, i wouldn't consider anything smaller neways!

Even 1 lady owners mate, The husband could have drove it as second driver.... how do u know for sure with any car? are there tell tales signs its been hammered? If its been looked after body, ineterior/exterior and service wise, how would u know its still not been cained?

I agree with precautions, I have never bought a car the first time i saw it, i always gp back for a second look cos u always miss something the first time..

But can honestly say there is no real way of telling if its been cained but looked after body/interior wise!

white vts...

mk1 or mk2?

Ryan21

I agree mate yeh... But respectively speaking u will never know every mile that car has covered and how its covered them! That VTS at the top of the pic could have never been over 80mph, your just never going to know!

and that applies for every other car out there for sale!

I tend to check:

Body work
Tyres
Interior
Check pedals for wear on rubber caps
Make sure all electrics work
Make sure all doors lock with CL and Key
Check under the carpet in the boot for rust/holes etc
Under the bonnet
Cleaness of oil (will tell if recently serviced)

Then i always ask for it to be fired up until the fan kicks in, then i ask for a test drive

After all that i will check the history, but still wouldn't buy on the first viewing!

i actually think them alloys suit it and it fits perfect rather than it been slammed on its ass with tiny 15's, as long as its been loked after then its got as much chance of falling to bits as any other saxo

Id leave that alone.

The wheels are a put off straight away. The advert does not mention S/H or Tax. It could have put through the MOT at its own garage, and its WAY overpriced imo.

There is an 02 VTS on here going for £3.2k.

Just keep your eye out for one with FSH, standard, low miles, and with a single plug ecu (if you plan to cam). But let me buy the first one that comes up like that. :P

You've got to be ruthless when buying cars mate, I've bought some real nails in the past through falling in love, my first car was a Corsa B SRI in that nice GSI green, stunning car in the dark and rain when i bought it, the day after walked out onto my drive and the back end was a different colour, I thought it was bad on fuel and got it checked out and there was a hole in top side of fuel tank so all u could smell in the car was petrol....death trap mate, ended up doing the bits and getting shut, then i bought an Escort 3 door SI, bought it without test drive, got on Mway and clucth went!

So since then mate i'm fussy, slightest intuation of a rat and i'm outta there, doubt i'll be buying again for a couple of years but list above sums up how i would look around the car, check for oil patches too mate, ask him to move the car, rock the engine.... just little daft things!

The 17s make that untrue.

If you have a gut feeling that, that VTS isn't right, don't go for it. Not worth it and your gut is always right!

i had all that spec + 1000 less miles - standard wheels and no warranty though and I paid 3.1

seems a bit too much money for me. id definately have it checked out by a mechanic if your thinking of buying.

also, check the warranty, i had a 12 month warranty with my vtr - wasnt worth the paper it was written on.

dont see the big deal with 17's that really suits it makin a change from the norm of slammed and tiny wheels, maybe he wants LOOKS! why he chose 17s as to having smaller wheels making him faster ie him not hammering the car as much as maybe a standard lookin car has been!

think the wheels are too big lexarse lights are wrong and fuel cap needs to go other than that look clean enough.

White mk2 (i presume it was mk2) Vts' are rare as rocking horse shit, and look gorgeous, so personally i would have the white one.

With smaller wheels, the gold one would be nice, but it's white all day long for me.
