Right, i searched and this may sound a silly question, but once youve found a saxo to look at, what do you go and look at when you go and see it ? what sort of question should be asked. In my case i might be going to see a saxo vtr, 2001.

What I look for...
1. have a look round the car see if there is any mismatch of paint colour, rust etc.
2. Open boot...any rear damage evidence at the back? Check under carpet is it damp or wet?
3. Open the bonnet check for oil leaks epscially on around the drive way people may have moved the car to fool you.
4. Ensure blowers and radio is off and car is in neutral. Start the car with your head outside so you can hear for any dodgy noises. If the car is already warm be suspicous.
5. Check inside for damp or wetness feel all the carpets (once went to see a fiesta that was soaky wet!)
6. Check for worn marks on drivers seat possibly boy racer been driving it!
7. Take for a test drive test brakes etc. To check the clutch stop the car on the flat put gear in 4th and then set off normally, if it stalls clutch is ok
8. Check service history etc.
Also, watch used car roadshow on men and motors I got the above 8 points from watching that show it helps!!! There are 2 more but can't remember!

Hope this helps and good luck!
EDIT:
9. Put your hand over the exhaust so it causes a vaccum and get someone else to rev it...make sure there is no shit in the middle of your hand when you move your hand away, it should be clear. You can then see if there are any holes in the exhaust and if the car is burning oil or other such nasties.

May look sillier when you've got to fork out around £150+ for a new clutch!

check that the car goes into gear easily and the gearstick isnt as loose as a porn stars jute, because saxos are known for weak gearboxes!
