i dont no a thing about guitars but is it possible that they sold u the guitar whit cheap strings on it that shred ur fingers and buying some new strings that are less coarse would stop it hurting so much??

Super slinky strings are nicer to the fingers.... But the action of your guitar will also dictate how much pressure you have to apply.

How much of a gap is there between the strings and the fret board?

i use fretboard wax ;) tis a lot easier in the old finger tips... you can play a lot quicker too smileys/smiley17.gif
