View Full Version : Massive Brake Failure. Thanks Y177

Having had pretty much every type of electrical failure over the past few months the sax is having to try harder and harder to top itself with each failure, but my god did it pull a blinder last night.

The possitive terminal on the battery managed to earth itself, skillfully using the air filter. This in turn caused a bit of smouldering in the engine loom, which runs allongside the brake pipe. Brake pipe gets hot, fluid boils itself away happily. After allowing it to happily smoulder away while sitting at some traffic lights I pulled on to a quiet piece of perfect oxfordshire country lane ready for some nice attacking driving. Until I hit a corner and the pedel slams straight into the firewall. French cars are gash. The AA are still a likable bunch though annoyingly I've pretty much got the car as I want it so I don't want to give up but maybe I should just go out and buy a nice standard car that was fast out of the wrapper

Sucks mate, any damages to the car or was everything ok? (Apart from having a battery without a positive and some wirefire... and no brakes. Sounds like me mates mini tbh)

No damage, just need to rewire it a bit. Thinking of moving on. Not sure, the car is otherwise so mint

Don't give up on it mate, I bet no car will have you grinning like a cheshire cat like your vts does!

I was speaking to a fella near me that used to do semi pro rallying and he actually builds custom wiring looms for a living now. Quoted me £400 for a full new custom loom.

Was thinking about this cos it's costing me a fortune sorting out all my electric probs at the mo. Figured £400 in one lump sum is still cheaper than f*cking about each time something else goes tits up.
