ok here it goes maybe a repost but who cares

Right, 3 men go for a meal, it comes to 30 pounds

They each pay 10 pounds to the waiter

The waiter comes back and says there has been a mistake the meal is only 25pound

They decide to each take back a pound and give the waiter a 2 pound tip

So they have each paid 9 pounds each for the meal and gave a 2 pound tip to the waiter

Ok heres the math bit

3x9 is 27 right?

And add to that 2 pound for the tip

Which gives you 29 pound

Where has the remaining pound gone

doesnt the total meal come to £27 including the tip, so there is no need for the other £2 pound to make it £29, theyre paying a total of £27??

yeh, the total is 25 = the 2 tip = 27 and they all pocket a quid each?

Ive heard this before and cant remember it. but surely if they pay 25, 2 pounds tip, each take a pound back?

well for a start if its 5 quid cheaper and they take a quid each, the tip is the 2 quid left over, right? then the guys take a quid each then jobs a good 'en and that equals 30.... i hope

it is good though, very good. much harder if you arent looking at the digits etc, as you said. got to love misdirection (is that a word?!)

so 28 - price paid which is 27, which leaves £1? I cant see your logic:wacko:

Its 9x3=27, price of meal is 25, so 27-25= £2 tip

and they each have a quid in there pocket from the 30squid

each put in tenner so 30 quid, meal is 25.

get confusing because they says it 9 quid each and its actually 8.333...

so its 8.333 x 3 = 25 not 9 x 3 = 27!

30 - (1 x 3) = 27

27 - 2 = 25

there is no extra pound

yeah the pound is there because theres 3 lads thay would have to give the waiter 3 pound to make it 27 but as thay gave him £2 tip. one of the lads would of not lost a pound so he would have £10 and the other 2 lads would have £9 so that make it 10 + 9 +9 = 28 + £2 waiter tip = 30 donno if any one can under stand this but i know what i mean lol

Each take a £1 back = £28
£2 tip = £30

No extra pound:P
