Hi i have my mk1 vtr lowered 40mm front and 45mm rear and its rubbing really badly on the outter arch, not sure why but i think maybe my shocks have gone as it seems really spongey and soft on the rear of the car heres a little pic any help would be great thanks.

they could have gone mate, but when i saw it a couple of weeks ago it looked very very close. youve got 15"'s with 50 tyres haven't you?
are they the correct alloys for the car?

check the offset, I bought 15's with 15 offset and they rub with the arch lip cut off so i'm gonna get 3mm taken off the wheel as my 14" wheels with 18 offset don't rub with 3 13 stone lads in the back!

And change your tires to 195/40/15. This will lower the profile and help massively against the rubbing

50profile is too big for saxo's man.

what part of the car is that i cant work it out

i know its the arch but what part

If it's not the body it will be the lining inside the arch itself. If you take a front wheel off, have a look at the inner arch lining, you may see rubbing spots. Anyhow, either remove the lining completely, or hammer it away from where the wheel touches. Should sort it

Its the actually edge of the bumper which is rubbing against but when people get into the car it just goes so low im thinking the shocks on the torsion bar need to be replaced as the car is so soft and sponge on the back end

Not yet mate its just as the rear bumper is connected to outter edge of the wheel arch theres like a piece of the body work what pertrudes out a bit its on the rear not having any problems with front ive just bought some new shocks of someone off here so will see if these help harden it in anyway cause it seems to be very soft as i stated one person in the back seems to drop it another 20mm so i think this could me problem thanks for the comments and lets hope monkey 1 and monkey 2 have been given the boot from the site

lol.agreed.if you just need to take a tap to the wheel arch then get some mud on your tyres and get someone to sit in the back and do a full rotation or 2 of wheels, that way you'll see where its rubbing and you can sort it

Can't believe some people!

Right, I had scrubage in that place when i was running 195-50-15's.

195-45-15's sorts it, but can be pricey!

That bumper mount can be removed. If u need more advice PM me. It's pretty easy to do!

Shocks, well how many miles have they done? They can get tired when lowered. But that is not the cause. Shocks gone will cause a bouncy ride, but if it scrubs, it scrubs! And will with any shocks, Unless there solid.

Thanks for the advice people, changed the rear absorbers today for g-max gas shocks and found my citreon ones were about 3"s smaller and had way too much play in them so they had definately given up the ghost new ones are a much harder and give a comfy ride and not as bouncy, thanks for the help.

Good advice on the tyres, I had to replace my rear two on VTS rims £90 the pair. Shop around and get a good price also try some of the online tyre companies. Good deals to be had there :clapping:
