if its been looked after.
The panels and paint work and are in good nick. no knocks/dents. cam belt changed. engine runs perfectly etc etc.
Just expect it not be cheap and the odd repair bill every now and again.

does it have FSH? If it does I wouldn't worry to much about the mileage.
and it is almost 10 years old so its not tooo bad a mileage. I have a 14 year old car with 115000 ont the clocks although its reading 130000 but she is a star. I bought her without any history but i wouldnt swap her for the world despite how annoyingly expensive she is :D:

mine can allegedly do 250k before any major work on the engine is needed - shame the rest of the car will have erroded by then

a cv joint is gone in the front left but thats not a big problem seems to run well. obviously driven hard with 3 previous owners no paint work damage or anything like that:bump:

find out what the fuel consumption is like - does it match the manufacturers figures??? one of the signs of bad engine health is if the MPG is down.

depends on the way the engines been looked after. mines coming up to 65k hard miles, its had cams in from early on. It uses no oil, has no wear and does 34mpg all day long. Regular oil changes are the key

never, i think anything over 80k is a no go.. unless its a bmw or vw

why though? there is nothing wrong with a car that has more miles on it.
My old white 309 i bought was 18 years old with 165000 on the clocks, she ran sweet as a nut once she had been serviced. Again she had no history but i werent bothered for £200. That car was absolutely cracking as was alot quicker than the 309 i own now. although Puggy is just Puggy.
if a car has a fair few miles on it it just means the car has been used what it was designed for....................... driving.
Nothing worse than having a car with hardly any miles on it, because that means its been standing for a long time throughout its years and can mean more damage.
I think saying you wouldnt own a car with more than 70K is a bit odd though. Say if someone offered you an old classic escort mexico or something worth alot of money and it had 90K on the clocks you wouldnt snap the hand off the owenr to buy it?
Anyways does the Saxo have Full Service History or any history at all?

it has some service history bloke says it was serviced a few thousand miles ago. he's had it 3 months and says he does a lot of driving in it it souds fine engine looks fine so does exterior and interior
but then again i dont want to spend money on a waste

I wouldnt them either if they've been abused.
To be honest its just as bad seeing a very low mileage car for the age. Typically they will have only been used to go to the shops.. the engine wont have even got warm and thus nice worn the engine to bits.
If I was looking for another automobile I'd try establish if the car had been run mainly on motorways or popping to the shops.
motorway runner would always win for me.

Personally from what it sounds like i would go for it, it is cheap enough.
It seems as though the bloke is being as honest as he can with you. And if you do experience any problems with it you will always have the technical help to hand on here :D:
Did it go through its last MOT well? If so I would say that has to be a big fat plus for the car.
If you were buying something like a Skyline or an RX7 then i would let mileage play a big factor especially if it is an import one.
But the fact is Saxo's are readily available for parts etc so they *should* be fairly cheap to fix and if you know a bit about mechanics and are fairly confident with them then you dont have anything to worry about.

We have a p reg vts with 107k miles and a mk2 w reg vts with 118k. Both are driven hard with not too many probs along the way. I would say that the asking price is too much. You get what you pay for, any car can be expensive on repairs but most of the jobs you can do yourself with alittle help from haynes. Buy it as they are great cars that are going to be a modern classic.
