personally, i wouldnt buy a mini but thats because i dont like them, but if i had to buy one it would be a cooper s. the only other one i would have brought (if i could afford it) is the john cooper s works - the one with the red mirrors

I’m disappointed I thought there was going to be some Jap monster on the way then I read the next sentence only to find out you’ve opted for the Mini.

That’s a bit of a U turn in my eyes but I’m sure if it’s got a supercharger you’ll have plenty of fun in it.

U mean they now do a Turbo Model?

The Cooper S is supercharged, and is a monster.

Mates sister's got a John Cooper Works 1. Something like 220bhp. Tis a monster.

I love them to bits, but I agree that inside they ain't all that.

Would def have 1. But they're well pricey 4 what u get!

The cooper s is now a turbo and its a far better engine than the old supercharger one.

I wouldnt call them monsters in standard form the engine is poor as is the standard super charger. Its also a heavy mofo. Again great chassis but pap engines

I always thought the engines were sweet. But I stand corrected.

They do look pretty sweet thou. But I'd agree, a TT would be better.

My choice would alway be a Scooby!

ok a bought a copper s with 20,000 on the clock silver in colour with a black roof and caps.

i did think i was going to buy a jap monster but really dont want the running costs and the insurance price also if you actually look at how much a decent low millage evo etc costs and how much parts are for them (gearbox £2000 etc) you soon realise that they are way more expensive than a first thought.

also a bought the mini from a bmw dealer and you get warranty on parts and labour and servicing for 8 years or 80,000 miles.

as most of you know the chargers run low bost so there is potential for big performance figure there are a few around with over 300bhp at the moment but a more wanted a nice comfortable car that will be reliable.

I'm under no illusions of the running costs of Jap cars but will look forward to seeing a 300bhp Mini.

As a all out performance hot hatch the Mini just is not replacement for the Saxo . . . But, But I think you have made a good choice there mate.

My mate bought his Cooper 2yrs ago and it is a really nice bit of kit, well made and very classy. Ok its not that quick but I like the look of the new mini's and as the only French option would be the Reault sport Clio.

I tell you now your never lose money on a mini as everyone wants them, even tho they are gettin a small face lift you'd have to look at plate to tell.

Post some pics mate - good choice

elise just wasnt practical enough for me.

I used to take my clubs out in the VX220, and drive it to work, and drive it in my spare time, and go shopping in it, and everything else I still do now.

They are more practical than you think (vx220 / elise - same car)

Gotta say though I've never been a fan of the new mini. I've got a 1977 1275 gt clubman sat in pieces at the mo. That's my preference!

How old are you?? I think you have made a very sensible decision.... when I was looking at Evo's and Scoobies before I bought the FTO the insurance was about £1200 - £2400 and I was 25 (now 27). Also they need servicing about every 5K miles and the servicing isn't cheap as the majority of them are Imports (my FTO's service was pretty damn expensive), as you say the parts are very expensive too. At least with the mini the part and stuff shouldn't be too dear. My mate gave me a lift in her Cooper S last week and I must say I was quite impressed with the build quality (but then it is a BMW underneath), the ride quality and just generally everything.

Well done mate.... most people on here are only impressed if you get something with stupid power and stupid running costs etc.... they'll soon find out when they go to look at Evo's Scoobies etc.

Chris :)

this is basicaly the whole point in getting the mini i am only 22 so you can imagine the costs involved in a evo etc.
minis do have potential but i really aint interested in modifying anymore (growing up lol) just wanted a nice car and thats what av bought.
i decided to spend a bit more and get servicing for 8 years and a bmw warrenty so a dont really have anything to worry about.
