just came across this site...

http://www.fredmiranda.com/software/

It has a load of photoshop plugins relevant to your particular camera. I've found from personal experience any ISO setting above 400 is unacceptable on my 10D. However when I went out shooting the fireworks i had no choice but to whack it into 1600ISO. Anyway this photoshop plugin allegedly can reduce the grain in the images :)

you might find of some use too

haha

you can go up to 800 on the 20D and be fine :) 1600 is a bit noisy but nothing serious

all very well when you are shooting during good light, once the light starts to go you'll have some fun, unless you have some fast lenses to give you some stops back.
