I got pullled by the police yesterday. They had a good look over the car and couldnt fined anything wrong (its all taxed, mot'd insured). They then took offence to my sunstrip and said if i didnt take it of there and then they were going to give me a fixed penalty. After trying to get it off without sucess they decided to let me go but warned me if they saw me with it on again they would fine me.
Does anyone else get hassle like this ?? , i wasnt speeding or driving bad. you would think they would have better things to do.

nah not really, only when im an idiot, twice last month got pulled and its never happened before, put it down to rubbish month! anger problems! lol.
see loadsa people down my way get pulled over all the time, police down plymouth are pretty hot on it now. usually see the same people gettin pulled all the time, hear loadsa stories. once your car is 'blacklisted' as such they constantly pull it over :(

i can seriously get off with anything, once he stopped me but just to give advice n shit, must of been bored, cos he knows my reg.

it is illegal as the wipers sweep over it (saxo wipers go all the way to the top of the windscreen),
saxooxas
12th November 2006, 20:58
so are saxperience stickers illegal?the wipers go over them
sharpy24
12th November 2006, 21:01
well if it is illegal then what do you expect?
I never get any hassle off the police, quite a few of my friends and family are coppers and my local ones are sound anyway.
For some reason telling them my job makes them nicer to me ;)
Even got a police escort once when we were flying down the motorway at 95mph to a major incident, flashed our badges they checked the incident was real with their control room and escorted us at high speed it was weird
saxooxas
12th November 2006, 21:02
whats your job? And why would you go to a major incident?
sharpy24
12th November 2006, 21:05
im a prison officer and im in tornado which is a national team which attends any disturbance, riot, major incident etc. basically all police and prison officers are trained in basic c&r (control and restraint) well im trained to advanced c&r level and hoping to take my national instructers course soon. im also a pcc instructor.

i got puled one hour after driving! been pulled coming back from a town centre and never been pulled since, ive been driving just under a year yet police never pull me thank god...
Donna
13th November 2006, 10:43
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it illegal if something is obstructing the view by something like 5cm below the rear view mirror (including sunstrips)?
I failed an M.O.T once because of a magic tree hanging from my mirror and that's what they told me.
Luke
13th November 2006, 10:49
A magic tree?
That is surely taking the piss. An MOT is there to make sure the car is roadworthy, so how does an air freshener prevent that.
Josh_Phipps
13th November 2006, 10:52
Can the police do insurance checks there and then to catch people out on whether they have declared mods or not?
Mystic
13th November 2006, 10:52
Never been pulled in the S, have been pulled in a zafira a few times though lol. Twice cus they though i had stole it and once they just asked questions, 'where have u been', 'where are you going' etc
If got 2 fat dice and 2 air freshners hangining from my mirror and i passed my MOT on friday with them no probs!

Yeah, think so mate. If they do a check on you, if your mods are declared it will show up 'Modified' but if you ain't declared them they can do you I reckon.
Josh_Phipps
13th November 2006, 10:54
Cheers, m8, i take it the smoked lights, zorst give it away that your modded
so when they do the check it doesnt actually bring up the mods you have done?

My car spends a fair bit of time in the Police Station. Never been pulled officially though.
As for lowering and air filter they cannot request that you alter height or get rid of it. Thats ridiculous

13th November 2006, 14:35
got stopped for having blue neon lights as side lights and havin my fog lights on which was accidental as my dad drove the car and doesnt knock them off! was about to get smacked with a producer and brucey bonus's when he decided not too and said he would call round in the next week to check if i had taken them out which he still hasnt done!

I look quite young for my age and I got pulled at least 5 times in the space of 6 months
kenny
13th November 2006, 23:47
magic trees etc are an mot fail if the person doing the mot is having a bad day but usually they dont bother, the police are only limited to information on insurance and im not sure but i dont think it says modified or not modified on their system i think its only on the actual insurers system.
correct me if im wrong.

Cheers mate :P
In all honesty the police are ok around here. They don't pull you over for no reason, they will always have a reason too.
I've been pulled over 3 times, once the first day of driving as the car was in the process of having the registered owner changed so the guy thought i had stole the car. I explained and showed all my documents and he was fine, apologised and just told me to keep safe and that. Second time for going around a roundabout the wrong way (my bad) but he let me off as it was late, in a car park and i hadn't done anything bad. Was actually a nice guy as i could have lost my licence for that :)
Third time was a bit of a wierd one but i can see where he was coming from, i had me and 3 mates in my old mk3 fiesta, we went around a corner and a policeman followed me till i parked up and just said that he thought i was speeding due to the suspension being really low around the corner. I had a light out aswell but he just asked me to get it sorted as it was a sunday and no where was open. I haven't been pulled for ages now.

Its not to bad round here, the saxo was the worse car for getting pulled in to be honest, Since i had the Subaru though i have been pulled about 3 times, all when i first got the car, but touch wood i have not been pulled for ages. Unless you do something stupid or you are in the wrong, unless they are really bored !

Got pulled twice in the VTR... once for having my fog lights on, which to be fair I had been driving through fog 10 mins beforehand... the other time was when I was on my way to my girlf's house, drove past an un-marked police car doing 40 in a 30, but got away with both and both times the coppers were complimenting me on my car.
Never got pulled in the FTO and haven't been pulled inthe Astra Coupe Turbo yet (touch wood)

I got pulled for the first time today. It was a police officer on foot, he waved me down for speeding, saying I was doing "approximately 45mph". But, I saw him ages in advance and checked my speedo and was doing just under 40mph. I don't know how they can try to predict your speed from so far away. But, I just got a slap on the wrist so no harm done.

You should of just drove straight past him. If he had try to take it any further he wouldn't have any case against you. Its impossible to guess what speed someone is going lol :)

2 time's i ever get pulled was when the red lacer(spelt wrong i know:evil: ) burnt off my rear driving bulbs so i get " it's illegal to show any white light from the rear of your vehicle people might think your going to reverse into them" so i say " when i'm doing 30 going forward officer " he obviosly didn't like that because he gave me a M.O.T rectification slip but i got that sorted
then for my tints got pulled by the local unmarked said i SHOULD remove them but DIDN'T HAVE TO but warned that if i hit someone and they thought it was because of tint's then i would be lookin at death by dangerous drivin still got em though:P

I been pulled over afew time sometimes my fault sometimes not :-)
But I think as you get older you don't get pulled unless your sportin some Bolt-on-bandit bits or drivin like a wolly, but the Golden rule is relax, be polite tell what they want to know be friendly and everyone is happy :-)

I know you shouldn't be cocky but sometimes the police are so rude to you it makes you really tempted to say something.
When I got pulled over that time, I said "sorry" and he just got the arse, saying he "didn't want my silly little apology". I don't know what else I could have said. I was already apologising for something I didn't do.
He kept me standing there for ages too, lecturing me about putting my bag on the passenger seat - people may swing open the door at lights and steal it. Fair point... but my car locks when the ignition's on anyway!
