I am thinking about getting a Citroen Saxo Mischief 1.1 and the price is very good.. However I do not want to get it if it is very hard to modify compared with other saxos. And could any1 tell me the difference between this model and more popular modded Saxos like VTR's and VTS's smileys/smiley2.gifCheers

I thnk the mouldings r different, so ull have 2 modify the bumpers 2 get 'em 2 fit
how much is the Saxo and how old r u?
cos if the sax isnt very cheap and ur ovr about 20 or so, u should b able 2 afford a VT model

You don't have to modify the bumpers to fit. The difference between base models and VT models are the arches and sideskirts, as well as different bumpers and a spoiler. The VT bumpers will fit a base model as eeasily as the base models original bumper as all saxos are the same under all the kit.
The only problem is that you don't have arches on a base model so if u fit a VT bumper then the ends of the bumper stickout where it would normally meet the arch, so it would look silly!

I am 17 just passed my test so I probably wouldn't even get insurance on a VTR smileys/smiley19.gif . Can you get arches so that the edges on the VTR bumper dont stick out from the rest of the car?? Might see if I could try and get a nice kit for the Standard Saxo if thats possible?? smileys/smiley13.gif I am kinda new to the Saxo scene but am very keen to get one because a well done Saxo looks better than pretty much any other car no matter how well done it is.. Might jus wait for a while and try to get a VTR.. smileys/smiley12.gif Don't know if I can wait that long though!! smileys/smiley5.gif Cheers anyhow

My opinion is get a car any car not very expensive rack up a years no claims or 2 and then get a VTR, i had a corsa first then got my VTR, because theres no point gettin a nice new car cus til u get used to drivin on ur own and that u may crash or sumat and also theres no point spending 5000 or sumat on a car if u r gonna wanna change it in a year!! So i think get a piece of crap til u get a little experience and then ur insurance will drop alot!!
Wot u think?? smileys/smiley5.gif

Wise words Deano, and all r true, no matter how much u may hate the old shitter, its gonna b damn hard 4 u 2 get insurance since ur 17, if u were 19, then it would b slightly easier 2 get insurance...
Well, just get any mode of transport thats cheap and cheerful, mayb an old Fiesta or something, AXs,Fiestas, and Renault 5s r easy 2 find, so get one of them three, make sure they've got tax and mot, or otherwise, ull have 2 pay loads, check out this site here... (http://www.autoexchange.co.uk)

Aye that wid be a good idea probably what i will eventually end up doing, but if I can afford it I may add some mods to a saxo or even if I get a "banger" add some to my "banger" that ah can also use when I can afford insurance on a VT. Like get alloys or summat.. Will prob do that thanks for the advice.. smileys/smiley2.gif ah want my first really modded car to be a cracker. smileys/smiley16.gif

well Zander you can get the arches from a VTR or something and fit them to a base model. Should be able to get the whole kit for 150-200 pound, including bumpers, sideskirts and arches/door panels.
The 1.4 westcoast saxo is a MK1 and are relatively cheap. Some go for 2000-3000 pound which isn't that much. I s also a cmopromise insurance wise as it is a group 5 i think whereas the 1.1 is a 4. These cars come with the VT kit so any bodykits for the VTS or VTR would fit on perfectly.

Actually,i think the 1.1 is a grp 2/3 depending the year it was made i think and the 1.0 is only grp2

well actuallly you are wrong. The saxo 1.1 is a group 4 and the 1.0 is a group 3

oh well, not much difference in insurance cost, not like the VTR in Grp.7 while the VTS is grp.14!!!!! smileys/smiley5.gif

1.1 saxos r gud cars to get cos there low on insurance not bad acceleration times. 0-60 in 12.8secs i fink and are not much arder to mod than vtr/s.

Especially when boken in a bit, like the C2 my bro has now, it doesn't feel like it does the 0-60 in about 1o.5secs, feels like it does it under 10s

yeah the saxo is one of the fastest 1.1's around. Not sure if it's correct but i read in the Fast Car Ultimate modifying guide, that the saxo 1.1 is in fact quicker to 60 than the PUg 106 quiksilver? The 0-60 time listed was beter for the saxo.
Don't know how that can be true as i thought they were the same car. If u have a guide look it up, maybe mine was a misprint, or i may have been hungover at the time as i was in Gran Canaria.

On top gear magazine from October 2002 (the closest one I had to hand) they quote the 106 quicksilver at 13.2 seconds to 60 and 12.8 to the 1.1 saxo. In comparison the 1.1 106 takes 15.4 seconds to 60!!!!!

well how the hell is that correct? anyone know? Stupid when you think about it. Same Car basically.

23rd February 2004, 23:38
Yeah but the vts takes 8 seconds and gti 8.2 so it evens out when it gets to the higher range ones!
But in comparison the top speeds are:
106 1.1 - 102 mph
saxo 1.1 - 101 mph
106 gti - 124 mph
saxo vts - 120 mph

gearboxes are different on them ;)

24th February 2004, 22:18
well yeah they must be. You'd think that Peugeot would rather have a faster 0-60 time than the top speed though wouldn't you?
jamesg88
24th February 2004, 22:39
thats weird that the quiksilver is slower in da acceleration than da 1.1 saxo.
