coming up to being 18, soo may as well get a ridiculous tattoo, the tattoo thread sprung my memory
what does everyone think of a barcode tatoo on the back of the neck above where a standard tshirt would sit.
this will be the exact size of a barcode and pretty much resemble it :)

If you are fine having a bar code in your neck for the rest of your life then go ahead. Personally I wound't but it's not my neck. :)

Personally I could think of hundreds of different ways to spend my money. If your going to get a tattoo get something you'll like for life, not something that you'll regret in a year or two.

what barcode would you get anyway you'd look stupid with a barcode for tesco value bog roll on your neck for life :P
better off giving it some thought and getting a decent tattoo you'll be happy with for life and that has some meaning

in my opinion i don't really like them. they are old school now. some old school stuff you can still get away with like the spiders web on the elbow or the swallow on your hand between the thumb and forefinger. it's personal choice at the end of the day, but just remember that you are going to have it on your body for the rest of your life and it costs a lot less to get a really nice tattoo in the first place than it does to have laser surgery to remove a horrible one.

i have a tribal design on the small of my back witch i had for my 18th birthday, i love my tatto and i am fasianted in the history of body art as a whole ( i studied it as degree modul- titled how body art is used in contempory design today?)
i am also wanting one on my right hip tho- been wanting it for a few years now. will only be small.
however a tattoo is with you for live and you have to make sure your happy with the design and placment of it.

you can only really get away with spiderswebs on your elbows if you get full sleeves done really they dont look right if they arent part of a sleeve imo
isnt a swallow on your hand to show your a thief or is that urban myth? (something one of the older guys at work told me)

i dont know if i'd ever get a tatoo, its more than likely i wont.
not long ago though i was thinking about a barcode idea. to give it a more personel feel, i thought about getting my date of birth as the numbers underneath, so i'd of had 17071984
wouldnt have it on the back of my neck though. it would probably go at the top of my arm and only be small.

How you are going to cover them up is something that you always need to think about. not sure on the swallow one. i know that a lot of older people do have them, but tattoos of birds are supposed to be bad luck anyway and some tattooists won't even do them (my ex wouldn't).

i remember hearing that a tear is to represent that you've murdered someone?!
has anyone any idea on this?
i wouldnt have thought it would be true, as i'm not sure many people would want to go round advertising the fact.
although i would be interested in knowing if there is any truth in it historically.
