View Full Version : The Joy of Citroen Warranty...

For the past 3 weeks or so, I have had problems with my Airbag light coming on. Now as most people will know, it's usually the wire under the seat.
I booked the car in for today (18 November @ 8.30am). Last week whilst messing the car, I managed to make the light go off and it stayed off week, so yesterday morning I cancelled the appointment thinking I had sorted it. I go to leave work last night and yeah the light came on AGAIN. I thought typical after I just cancelled it.
This morning at 10.15 the women at Dixon Citroen rang me up asking if I was taking my car in. I was like 'I cancelled it yesterday, but it's started doing it again' I then went down and got told it would be an hour to do a diagostic check on it, so I get a phone call at 11.30 saying they had to make a wiring modification on the seatbelt pretensioner. What was this modification?
BLACK TAPE!
Just thought I would share this one with you to show how Citroen 'fix' warranted cars.

Pics! Cant believe all they did was stick some black tape on somewhere. Its a good job uve got it on warranty mate and you havnt had to fork out any cash for that.

Exactly Matt.
I wonder how much they charge for the diagostic check alone? I have here it's £80 though. I know I could of easily sorted it myself, but what is the point when I have 12 months warranty? Might aswell get them to do it.
I'll get some pictures now..

When i enquired about a diagnostics check a few weeks ago which lasts 1/2 hour they said it was £42 inc VAT. They also suggested that the parameter checks might need doing if diagnostics dont find the fault which was a few hours work and could cost over £100.
I went to my usual Garage after that and had all of the above carried out and all necessary work done for a grand total of.......£43 :)

Don't you worry, they will getting a phone call on Monday morning about this.
Just been to take some pictures and now had a proper look at the job! If anyone has seen the wiring, they will know it had 2 BLACK CONNECTORS! Well these have BOTH been cut off, then joined together with black tape.
I feel so angry right now, because I feel my car has been fooked with.
Pictures uploading..

You can see where the connectors SHOULD of been but now it's all just black tape. What if I need to take my seats out now?
Really annoyed me!!!

Just had a word with my Dad and he said it's wrong that because what if I wanted to put a GTi Interior or buckets in?
He said he would look at it and put some bullet connectors on. I dunno what they are but he is an engineer by trade so..!

Just to clarify; Citroen say you should use heat shrinks not black tape. its the connectors that are at fault so theres no point in leaving them there. You have to cut them off and join with whats called rachems which have soilder in side and when you heat them the soilder melts onto the wire and joins the wire and them the heat shrink holds it nie and tight. so your issue is with the garage DIXONS and not citroen
and citroen dont rely on you taking you seats out in there eyes WHY whould you your dealer should do it !!

personally i wouldnt use bullet connector because if 1 of them get powered or happen to join you get a nice big BANG from either the pretentioner or all the air bags and pretentioners and i can tell you now its fucking scary if your just driving don the road
take it back and ask the to check there SAXO INFO RAPID BOOK and use the correct connectors!!!!!!

taping the conectors isnt the right way to sort it
take that mofo back or trading standards
Luke
18th November 2006, 16:22
They ain't taped the connectors Paul.
They have been cut off, wires solidered (sp) together and then taped.
hesslevtr
18th November 2006, 16:23
you sure there soldered
they should of use some kind of conector to be honest
Luke
18th November 2006, 16:23
Well I'm guessing that.
My Dad said either soldered or crimped together.
