Hi all,

Im planning on giving me car its winter clean this weekend, and have spent ALOT of time reading :geek: all your other threads about the products you've used, the methods, and of course checking out all your pics...

So i thought it would be a good idea to make a thread where you pro's and those who have already cleaned their cars for the winter can post to recommend the following;

- Methods/Stages (wash, clay, wash, polish, wax etc... ie: the order you did things)
- Products (describing which products you used for each stage, and which you find best for each stage)
- Maintenance (any idea's on how to maintain the effects, or do you just leat it for a few months and gut it again come spring?)

The first two are the main ones.. minatenance was an after thought! ...Just to give myself, and anyone else about to do this a good idea of what to do, what to use, and how to get the best results!

solid?! Yeah.. its solid metallic black all over, with the dark grey plastic trims - as standard.

ok, if i were to be detailing a metalic black saxo this is what i would do.

Wash

- Wash car with the 2 bucket method and a quality car shampoo like the Poorboys one: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb120wash.html & a lambswool wash mitt : http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb90wash.html. I use a microfibre Mitt for wheels: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb91wash.html

Clean:

- Clay car with meguiars quick clay : http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb100clean.html

Dry:

- Dry with a waffle weave towel :

Polish:

Obviously when i detail i do full paint correction via a machine but you probably wont have one so by hand, the best polish would be the Menzerna IP: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb70polish.html worked in with the white side of a german applicator pad: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb68polish.html

- buff off with a good quality micro fibre: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb136_401polish.html

Protect:

- Jeffs Werkstatt Acrylic Prime: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb211polish.html applied by a german applicator pad.

- buff off with a microfibre

- Jeffs Werkstatt Acrylic Jett: http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb214protect.html - best method for this is to spray onto a good quality microfibre such as the one i linked to further up the post and buff onto a panel at a time, the majority will evaporate and you just have to turn to a dry side of the microfibre to remove any streaks :)

the Werkstatt Twins will provide more than enough protection for the winter and they also provide a stunning look on a metalic car ;)

as for wheels, i would clay them, polish them and the seal them with poorboys wheel sealant : http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb142wheels.html

Oh.. well if no one's ever heard of a Metallic black one, then i guess it is solid lol :oops:

There's no 'flakey-ness' to the paint work.. its jus a smooth glossy black (the shiney-ness i thoguth amde it metallic, ie: not matt.)

So i guess it maybe is solid? lol - sorry :oops:

...and wot different products wud ineed to use if its a solid black finish? Which we now presume it is? also is there any difference in the methods/stages because of this finish change?

No, for winter durability the Werkstatt twins are hard to beat on any colour, but they do look ace on solid black as well as metallics - very wet and reflective. :)

The basic wash kit (shampoo, wash mitts and waffle weave towel) comes in at £35, the Intensive Polish and pad/towel comes in at £20, and the Jeffs Acrylic Kit for all the last stages comes in at the current special offer of £42. If you want the Wheel Sealant plus pads/towel then add a further £18. This lot together comes in at over a £100, so you'd get a 5% discount applied at the checkout. :)
