yea im loving the task bar too matey! there are a few options avaliable, however through a tech support buddy he has informed me that the dvds with vista on it are all the same, what happens is when you put the cd key in this determines what version you will get, so technicly you will pay double for pro version and it will be the same as home basic apart from the cd key LOL

Prob not worth upgrading at the moment, there will prop be as many proplems as xp had when it came out and having to download updates all the time because the system was unstable and kept crashing. Think i'll hang on for a year.

I heard it needs 2gb of Ram to run smoothly.. most home pcs dont have that yet

May get it when I buy my new laptop for UNI but would rather have a stable OS for now

i suggest some read up on this instead of rumourmill city. I wont be touching it for at least a year for most of the MASSIVE security holes to be closed and most of my accounts wotn be touching it either for minimum of a year

I am running microsoft small bussiness erver at work. Would i have to upgrade the whole server to it or can i just put it on one computer to test it. Or do i just install it on every computer

Released on Jan 30th 2007 at the time of post.

I will be straight down PC world for my copy. Have been beta testing it for a while now and very impressed. Recognised all hardware on my machine without a problem.

i have been BETA testing for Vista since it was called codename longhorn. It's pretty slick, but alot of features aren't up and running yet!

You can try Vista on just one computer and use it on your domain. If you have no reason to upgrade your work computers then I wouldn't do it yet.

Eye candy - It does look pretty...

Why do I need 2Gb of memory to have a fancy user interface when all I want to do is write an email or browse the web. Many of the advanced features that would have made Vista a leap forward have been removed because it was taking too long, to be included at a later date (undetermined).

If it could do my work for me then I would sit up and pay attention.

Bah humbug, give me dos any day... :geek:

there is a version that doesnt have the new "aero" interface of whatever its called. that'll be cheaper. i think its called home basic. then theres home premium which is gonna cost about £250 (or $280, cos we get robbed over here) and an ultimate version that includes more bullshit.

im pretty sure home premium is the one to get.
