Just wondered whats peoples thoughts on this, i think were all clear on the knowledge car wash's suck.

i polished and waxed the car a few weeks back, since then jetwashed it a number of times, is it more likely the high power would blast the coating off?

Noob...

Honestlly i don't really know.., I'd imagine it wouldent be good for it.. You shouldent have to wax/polish your car every couple of weeks.. Once a month should be suffice, if it's dirty after a wax then just give it a shampoo and dry it off... that usually keeps it sparkling.

I don't think so, but washing it by hand is much better than a jet wash because you can get into all the little gaps and clean it more thoroughly. Jet wash is better if your car's completely caked in mud!!

jet washing is something i use on a regular basis as it gets into all the gaps etc. but nothing can beat a wash mitt and bucket as the pressure washer never really gets rid of the film clinging onto your paitwork.

i dont think that it will take your wax off the car as my paint is still quite slick after using the jet wash but its open to debate.

The pressure alone wont affect the wax on the car, the detergents in the system if you choose to use the shampoo will strip everything though as they are pretty strong and not very good for your car :afro:

save all the money you would spend on the jet wash and buy a gilmore instead! Going to look into organising a GB so more info to come on this soon.

i just use a small little jetwasher at home mate, youve seen how full of mud my car gets so theres no way im washing that off by hand, quick jetwash before i wash by hand, gets rid of loose dirt plus gets right under your arches etc.

think ive got a 'karcher 430' could be wrong though but you can get them for 40 quid. just works off a normal hosepipe.

Have to make sure you don't point it too close to the paintwork (mainly plastics) as it can flake the paint off, as i found out on my old saxo

I usually give mine a low pressure jet before I wash. That way any crap that was on the paint has generally gone before I start to wash by hand

i use a karscher(sp) to rinse at first

as others have said dont put to close as it might peal paint off (there good for taking stickers off though)

I use the jetwasher at the local service station, i always use the hot wax/foam that comes out of the brush aswell, is that bad for the car then?

yes, the brush will inflict some pretty nasty scratches given time...

example: joe bloggs goes to the same jet wash you use before you, he washes his muddy range rover with the brush, does the wheels etc etc, then along you come afterwards and put the brush up over your bonnet, roof etc etc, see where i'm going with this? there will be alot of dirt in that brush no matter how well you may rinse it before usage, i'd stick to hand washing mate :)

Disagree, they are great for getting the worst off before hand washing, I'd never just use a power washer, or just wash by hand without getting the bulk of the crud off first - that would be a recipe for grinding much into the finish with the wash mitt. :)

nothing like a bit of good elbow grease to lose some pounds lol.

I light jet wash then give it a one over with simple water ( in the hard to reach parts)

then the fun begins with shampoo and then waxing and then a good dry off with a leather cloth......... il take some pics next time I do it its made my dad jeep and my bro's supra look amazing lmao.

I work for europcar the car hire company and we clean the cars with a jetwash so i just clean my car there, i use a long brush and brush it all down then blast it off with the jetwash, car is always clean, the jetwash gets in the gaps and blasts crap out you cant reach to, good for people with painted calipers, and its mint for getting shit thats hard to get off on the bodywork or alloys, just dont hold it too close as it can sometimes mess up your pain if its a powerful one.

Mer is a poor polish, there are many, many products for the same money that do a far better job.

and stop using a leather chamois ;)
