To any one that knows anything about cars engines etc... which i must add is not me this will seem silly

if i boot it in 1/2nd and rev it as hard as it wil go, will the engine just eventually blow or is there something that prevents this?

just wonderin as i had a thought as to what rev range is best to change gear in to get the best speed/acceleration :)

cheers

your car is new enough to have a rev limiter, this will reduce the risk of blowing your engine but not eliminate it. different cars rev to different amounts so i cant say the exact best revs to change as i never driven a 1.1 saxo, for you i would suggest just taking it to the red line then changing

rev the nuts off it in all of your gears and then when it blows just get a vts engine dropped in it and then you wont have to rev the nuts off it to get you speed up.

seriously though cars no adays can stand some raggin around before they blow up, if your car hasn't got a rev limiter then get some fitted and try not to redline all the time.
